... as a Dark Elf once ranted.
It's 27 degrees today and the winds are enough to make your car (well, my car) move on the road. And anyone who's Australian knows what that means. It's Bogan Bonfire Day!
Mum, Dad and two of my uni friends have just called me in solid succession to make sure I'm at home, because some of the usual breath-wasting, lowlife dregs of humanity have lit a deliberate fire in the bush by the road where I usually drive home. Those poor, poor people living near the road or near my old college have now been told on the radio to go home, if they can, and prepare to help the Fire Service defend their houses.
I consider it not unreasonable, when the offenders are caught, to set fire to their houses and possessions. There is NO EXCUSE.
The only -slightly- good thing (in a not-good-thing way) is that nine or ten years ago, there was a massive bushfire in the same area - it got so close we could see it from our house, actually, you might have heard a Windy Anecdote or two about it - so the leaf-litter of the understorey isn't half as bad as it was back then.
In these winds, though, it'll still be hell for the Fire Service to get under control.
SO. BLOODY. ANGRY.
*deep breaths*
(In less infuriating news, yesterday was my Mummy's birthday, and we took her to dinner down at the beach and it was nice ^_^)
