Holy crap... how time flies. It's already June 2nd for cryin out loud. Has it really been four months since I've updated this thing?

I've been so busy.

But it's a good thing....

The job is going really good. I'm meeting a lot of good connections and getting really inspired.

Our first exhibit was Mary Daniel Hobson's "mapping the body":

Her work consisted of many layers with kodalith and materials such as insect wings, sheet music, and maps. It was a style I've never seen before and really opened my eyes to new directions.

Our current exhibit is Kenneth Parker's Tibet and other Lands - Buddhist Earth: Sacred Places/Sacred Work":

He was Eliot Porters' field assistant and his work is amazing.. Much more traditional than I'm usually drawn into...but his series that we're exhibiting is really beautiful. Ken himself has a very strong personality. In fact, he can be a bit of a spazz....but that's the fun of working in this field. Every photographer has their own unique personality that is unlike most that you usually meet day to day.

I've been really busy with my youth program that I'm directing at work. Went to all the local high schools and talked to the students about the free summer program we're offering. My gallery is non-profit, so it's really cool to offer so much awesome stuff to the community. It was kind of weird going back to high school 10 years later. Some of the teachers were the same age as me -- some of whom I knew years ago. It's amazing how fast time flies...

I have some of my own work that is going to be exhibited at the Steinbeck Center in Salinas this Saturday. It's for a fashion show and fund raiser for local latina's. There will be other photographers and artists displaying their work..so it's nothing too major, but it's good exposure.

As for everything else... things are going pretty good. James and I went on a cruise to Mexico a few weeks ago. Decadence! James won the whole poker tournament and walked away with 675 bucks. Good stuff.

It seems we've been packing our weekend schedules with lots of fun. It's been quite tiring though. This last Friday was the opening for Ken Parker at my work and it was the biggest opening we had since Dennis Hopper displayed his work many years ago. Saturday we rode our bikes in Santa Cruz and saw our friends bands play at Monterey Live and Lounge Underground. Sunday we went to the Rock N Rod festival at the fairgrounds and looked at the old cars and met up with our bike club and saw Big Sandy and his flyrite boys play. Such fun music... I love it.

Anyhow... I will try to make a point to update this thing more often as I find the time, which isn't too often anymore.

TOODLES!
