'I think that Roger Moore had put it best when he said that “MOONRAKER” was not a bad movie... until the setting shifted to outer space'
That sums it up for me, too. Moonraker is a guilty pleasure of mine up until the faux Star Wars scenes; its parts are stronger than the whole film. Moore himself is actually pretty decent, although I think his strongest performances were in the next two Bond films, For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy.
I wasn't terribly fond of either Lonsdale's Drax or Jurgen's Stromberg - they were too much of the push-button megalomaniacs who personally posed no threat. Still, the former has some of the wittiest Moore era Bond villain lines.
I must admit that I actually like Dr. Goodhead except for that awful closing pun she has. I love how she actually one-ups Bond for most of the movie, and he's the one who has to catch up. And the line about Vassar when Bond asks her about where she learned to fight always amuses me for some reason. I know a lot of male fans actually find Corrinne a sympathetic figure, but I didn't find her interesting enough.
