LOL, yeah...Just because people got a lot of satisfaction out of seeing her hurt the guy doesn't mean they're "condoning" it as an effective and reasonable way to deal with her situation. When she starts "immaturely" breaking vases over the heads of people who didn't rape her then I'll care.
I couldn't help but cheer for her as she did it. Although I do not see myself doing something like that in real life, she has my sympathy for being married to a narcissistic ass.
I refer you to Roald Dahl's short story "Lamb to the Slaughter" - another story where I cheered for the heroine.
I don't know exactly the divorce laws of the time, but it has historically always been much more difficult for a woman to get divorced from her husband, regardless of reason, than her husband from her.
The divorce system we have now is drastically different from back then even. It wasn't until the late 60s to mid-70s that divorce became more common. I also believe that NY was and still is the only state in the US that needs proof of adultery, extreme mistreatment, etc. in order for divorce to be allowed. So that aspect was correct in the show.
The feminist movement and sexual revolution were more ideas or just about to start than in any sort of effect. So many events have taken us to where we are now.
I had a friend who changed medical specialties halfway into his residency (from anesthesia to psychiatry). He had to start a new residency but not go back to med school
I may be way off base, but I took Betty's request for money to be some sly, snarky way of seeing if Don would admit to the money upstairs in the drawer. Because I don't believe she'd confronted him about it before her request.

IDK, I get what you're saying but I really can't find myself being too disgusted by a douchey rapist getting hit upside the head with a blunt object.
