Below is a list of my ten favorite television series of all time . . . so far:

TOP TEN (10) FAVORITE TELEVISION SERIES




1. "Babylon 5" (1993-1998) - Created by J. Michael Straczynski, this science-fiction series centered on the Babylon 5 space station: a focal point for politics, diplomacy, and conflict during the years 2257-2262. With its prominent use of planned story arcs, the series was often described as a "novel for television."




2. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997-2003) - This supernatural drama that centered on a blond teenager named Buffy Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar), the latest in a line of young women known as Slayers, who are chosen to battle against vampires, demons, and other forces of darkness. Buffy is aided by a Watcher, who guides, teaches, and trains her. Unlike her predecessors, Buffy surrounds herself with a circle of loyal friends who become known as the "Scooby Gang". Created by Joss Whedon.




3. "Star Trek Voyager" (1995-2001) - This fourth STAR TREK series, the only one to be led by a female captain. followed the adventures of the Starfleet vessel USS Voyager, which becomes stranded in the Delta Quadrant 70,000 light-years from Earth while pursuing a renegade Maquis ship. Both ships' crews merge aboard Voyager to make the estimated 75-year journey home.




4. "Friends" (1994-2004) - This situation comedy, created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, revolved around a group of six friends in the area of Manhattan, New York City, who occasionally live together and share living expenses.




5. "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1961-1966) - Created by Carl Reiner, this situation comedy revolved around the professional and private life of a television writer. Many of the show's plots were inspired by Reiner's experiences as a writer for "Your Show of Shows" (which starred Caesar). Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore starred.




6. "Jericho" (2006-2008) - Jon Turteltaub, Stephen Chbosky, Carol Barbee and Karim Zreik created this serial drama that centers on the residents of the fictional town of Jericho, Kansas; in the aftermath of nuclear attacks on 23 major cities in the contiguous United States.




7. "Magnum P.I." (1980-1988) - Tom Selleck starred in this crime drama, shot on Oahu, Hawaii; about a former Vietnam War veteran who becomes a private investigator living in Oahu, Hawaii.




8. "I-Spy" (1965-1968) - Robert Culp and Bill Cosby portrayed top agents for the Pentagon in this action-adventure drama. While ostensibly traveling as "tennis bums" (a talented amateur who plays tennis with rich people in return for food and lodging), they were usually busy chasing villains, spies, and beautiful women.




9. "3rd Rock From the Sun" (1996-2001) - This comedy sitcom is about a group of extraterrestrials on an expedition of what they consider to be the least important planet, Earth (the 3rd Rock from the Sun), while posing as a human family of four, to observe human beings.




10. "Hawaii Five-O" (1968-1980) - Created by Leonard Freeman, this crime drama centered on a fictional state police force (named in honor of Hawaii's status as the 50th State) led by former Navy officer Steve McGarrett (Jack Lord).
