Below is a list of my top favorite movies that feature time travel:

TOP TEN (10) FAVORITE TIME TRAVEL MOVIES

1. "Back to the Future: Part II" (1989) - This sequel to the 1985 hit featured another adventure for Marty McFly and Doc Brown, as they try to fix the damage made to their present, from a mistake committed by Marty in the future. Surprisingly, this is my favorite film in the franchise. Directed by Robert Zemeckis, it starred Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.

2. "Back to the Future" (1985) - This is the first movie in the famous time travel franchise in which Marty McFly finds himself stuck in the 1950s and forced to correct the damage he may have caused on his family. Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd starred, and Robert Zemeckis directed.

3. "Frequency" (2000) - A 1969 firefighter from Queens manages to communicate with his adult son, a 1999 police detective, via a ham radio. Together, they solve the mystery of a serial killer and save the family's history. Dennis Quaid, Jim Caviezel, Andre Braugher and Elizabeth Mitchell starred.

4. "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home"(1986) - Kirk and his fellow officers travel back to 1986 San Francisco in an effort to find a humpback whale (extinct in the late 23rd century) and save Earth from an alien probe. Leonard Nimoy directed and co-starred with William Shatner, DeForest Kelley and Catherine Hicks.

5. "Back to the Future: Part III" (1990) - In this follow-up to the second installment of the "BACK TO THE FUTURE" franchise, Marty McFly goes back to the Old West to save Doc Brown, who ended up stranded there in the last film's finale. Robert Zemeckis directed, and Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Mary Steenburgen starred.

6. "Timecop" (1994) - In what I believe is his best role, Jean-Claude Van Damme portrayed a Time Enforcement Agent who has to stop a corrupt senator and presidential candidate from changing the future. Directed by Peter Hyams, Ron Silver, Mia Sara, Gloria Reuben and Bruce McGill co-starred. The movie led to a TV series that surprisingly, became a favorite of mine.

7. "The Terminator" (1984) - James Cameron directed this first of four films in the TERMINATOR franchise about an unstoppable cyborg assassin who has been sent back from the year 2029 by an artificially intelligent computer-controlled compuster system bent on the extermination of the human race to kill a young woman, whose future son will lead a resistance against the machines. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Biehn, Linda Hamilton, Lance Henriksen and Paul Winfield starred.

8. "Groundhog Day" (1993) - Bill Murray has one of his best roles as a TV weatherman forced to repeat the same day (Groundhog Day) over and over again, while visiting the town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Directed by Harold Ramis, the movie co-starred Andie MacDowell and Chris Elliot.

9. "The Philadelphia Experiment" (1984) - In 1943, two sailors are stationed on a ship in an experiment to make it invisible to radar. However, the experiment goes horribly wrong and they are the only two survivors. Both undergo time travel (because of the experiment) and find themselves in the year 1984. Michael Pare, Nancy Allen, Bobby DiCicco starred.

10. "Somewhere in Time" (1980) - In this cult favorite, Chicago a playwright who becomes smitten by an old photograph of a young actress at the Grand Hotel, from nearly 70 years ago. Through self-hypnosis, he travels back in time to the year 1912 to find love with the actress. Directed by Jeannot Szwarc and written by Richard Matheson, the movie starred Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour, Christopher Plummer and Teresa Wright.
