Just a quick post, because my internet keeps shorting out (eff youuuuuuuuu internets).
I went to see Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter last night. And it was as bad as I thought it would be, but in all the wrong ways.
(There was a plot? I don't know, I spent the entire time laughing because everything was ridiculous and confusing.)
The premise was that SLAVERY AND THE GENOCIDE OF NATIVE AMERICANS WERE CAUSED BY VAMPIRES. I shit you not, they actually said that. And one of the vampires was trying to justify it by, "yeah, dude, but Africans totally sold other Africans to us."
I want to believe that this was a giant meta on racism and that vampires are a metaphor for Europeans (mostly the English in the US territory, let's be honest here) being horrible people in the name of things like Manifest Destiny. But I just can't get past the whole idea of blaming vampires for slavery and genocide. No. It was humans that were the monsters.
(Also, Lincoln? Did not sign the Emancipation Proclamation because he was anti-slavery. That was not his main agenda.)
i can't even,
this is not okay at all,
big gay love-fest,
you're not being subtle
