TV night: Native American style

I feel like I've OD'd on Western-themed media today...

Been watching TNT tonight...first they showed another part of their 'Into the West' miniseries which, though not all that brilliantly written, is strangely compelling and simply gorgeous to look at with all the sweeping mountain vistas and such.

Then I watched 'Dances With Wolves' (for what is probably my umpteenth viewing by now). I seriously love this movie big time. A few little things here and there bug me, but overall, it's beautiful. The scenery, the costumes, the horses and the cute wolf Two Socks, the magnificent score, and the fine acting, particularly from the Native American guys...it all draws me in and makes me feel for the Sioux, big time. (Yeah, I have white guilt, even though there was nothing I could have done about it personally, seeing as I didn't live back then.) I give major kudos to Kevin Kostner for directing this, and for having the guts to release a major motion picture with the dialouge almost entirely in Lakota, with subtitles.

On a more shallow level, I find lots of Native American warriors in film to be extremely sexy...the gorgeous long hair and smooth muscled bodies *purrs* Plus they have bows and arrows, which have now become almost an instant turn-on to me. Plus, I LOVE that connection to nature, and living in balance with their environment thing, just like elves have...I so envy that way of life. So all that definitely added to the viewing pleasure today. *G*
