“Raphael,” Adam informs him testily, “and she is not an it,” which makes no sense to Michael.
Why should he care about one of the feral monsters that had nearly decimated his precious village? Why should he care about the gender of a dragon who sends out scorching bursts of electricity whenever he ventures too close? She doesn't do that to Adam; she cares about him, perhaps more than Adam thinks any of his clansmen, his father or brothers, do. And Michael is the only one allowed to see that, to experience something so intimate between these very different beings.
“This is stupid,” he finally says. He pinpoints the exact moment that Adam bristles, eyes the same electric blue as the dragon's breath roving toward him. “If Chief John, if anyone, discovers this, that you've been harboring the enemy, what do you think will happen to you?”
Michael knows what will happen. Son of the chief or not, Adam won't be spared, not for something considered so heinous to their people. The older trainee simply cannot think about it without feeling ill, though it would have been right for him to punish this crime himself. Adam, however, sucks in a sharp breath and manages a smile, petting Raphael, who nuzzles comfortingly into his palm.
“Whatever happens can happen. I don't care. I'll keep her safe,” Adam insists, voice unwavering and determined, before returning his focus to the dragon.
Michael stares down at him, glad that Adam's never cared about his prowess or good looks, because it means Adam won't notice his shock now. He's always thought Adam to be weak, that his adherence of his pacifist mother's creed was merely an excuse to avoid conflict, but he can tell that Adam really doesn't care, that he'd die by his family's hand to keep this Raphael, the puniest dragon Michael has ever seen, from meeting the fate of her fellows. Adam is braver than anyone, to the extent of martyrdom.
And that scares Michael. It's not logical at all.

A/N: I adore this movie (and you) and can only hope I did it justice in this snapshot. :)

I'm really happy you enjoyed this, anyway, though. Raphael would make a great dragon, particularly one that's grumpy, lol. Thanks, bb. ♥

And I love you, I love you; I love you. ♥
I adore your description of the other angels in training, the Winchester's infamous reputation, how everyone acknowledges Michael's abilities but begrudgingly because they wish it was Adam who was living up to his family's legacy.
That moment with Adam feeding Raphael in the forest: hearts in eyes. I am also loving your introspective Michael in all these fills. He is so blunt and narrow-viewed, and his surprise at Adam's courage is a nice turn for his character.
I loved this snapshot and I only wish there was more! :D

I am so happy that you enjoyed this, darling! With a prompt like this, from one of my all time favorite movies, I really am tempted to go beyond snapshot range and into a novella, at least, but I want to write everyone. At least I know what I'll do in the summer, right?
Thank you so much, hon! :)

Of course, every other fusion I've seen, it's usually Sam or Dean who are Hiccup (terribly fail but adorable slayer). I think Adam fits the part, though, and Raphael pwns as a dragon. XD
Thank you, bb! Go watch it! *huggles*

Same, though I've never gave them more than a passing glance since I haven't seen the movie. She really does, lol!
We will! <3 *huggles*
