Michael Novak was a good man - though he didn't always conceive it himself - who dutifully raised four younger siblings, only increasing his unwavering dedication when his twin and helper, Lucifer, died bloody and young, rather than allowing himself to lose to hungry despair.
During his childhood, his father, a stern preacher, used to relate tales of an almighty, yet merciful God to him, and Michael listened with baited breath every time, but he wasn't sure he believed anymore, after losing his one living parent to some fantastical, horrible creature at only seventeen years old and fighting to keep his brothers out of a corrupt system.
That is, he wasn't sure he believed until now, fettered as he was to this being - this angel, this devil - who wore the face of and acted like a particularly spoiled child, who attended to his dreams nightly like an emperor's sentinel, who pulled him up to do ridiculous dances at inopportune times if he even perceived that Michael was sad, who claimed to love him and would end up killing him, he had no doubt.
And Michael Novak no longer knew what to believe.

So, in your 'verse, Michael wasn't inducted into the world of hunters until he was seventeen? I like that he's still the dutiful son fighting for his brothers to keep them out of the system.

I wanted to draw some similarities not only between this Michael and the one of canon, but Michael and canon!Dean, as well. And I agree, the idea of devil!Adam is soooo much fun, partly because I've seen JA act both twisted and devastatingly sympathetic in different, or even the same, roles. This Adam...well, it all starts out as a means to an end for him and I don't think I've written enough to know for sure the depth of his feelings, but he's quite fond of Michael, if nothing else, and does his best to take care of him, which has such a great impact because Michael is used to taking care of everyone but himself.
I'm making good progress on SBB and when I'm done, I think I'll continue to flesh this out. You can help me then, if we both fulfill our other obligations, since I love filling prompts, particularly if they're yours. :D

I would love to see the reversed dynamic of Michael struggling with whether or not to let someone else take care of him (let alone the devil, refer: Sam/Lucifer strife XD), and I would LOVE to help/enable with any of this, too, once you're finished with SBB! Good luck with the wonderful writing of great SBB/SPN Crossover goodness! :DDD

I don't want to jinx myself, but I realized today that SBB is only a few major scenes away from completion. Harvey and Mike's case is half done, the Winchesters are about to finish theirs, and then there's the big, dramatic finale, so I might actually be done early October. I don't even have all those OMGIHATETHIS moments that SPNJ2BB gave me.
And after that, I can hash this out to something concrete! I want to explore Michael's angst, Adam's relationship with him brothers, so many things that can't be covered in three sentences! But first, SBB and the oneshot I want to write for adamwinchester, so I have something to post for Adam's coming birthday. And it's so awesome that all of this feels manageable right now! 8D
