I'm starting to think about my trip home already. July 30th seems a long way off right now but I know it'll sneak up on me. I also know that I'm going to have to check 3 bags or ship stuff. I dread to think what it costs to ship a nearly 50lb or what ever box, so I haven't looked into the cost of that yet, but I looked into all the major airlines that operate with in the US (If anyone knows of one I missed, let me know, because i want to be able to compare them all.) Now I figured what's the use of doing all this research with out shareing it with anyone, so here it is:

The total costs of checking three bags with various major airlines:

Southwest Airlines: $25 (First two bags are free)
Alaskan Airlines: $125 (1st: Free, 2nd: $25, 3rd: $100)
United Airlines: $165 (1st: $15, 2nd: $25, 3rd: $125)
Sun Country: $115 (1st: $15, 2nd: $25, 3rd: $75)
Northwest: $165 (1st: $15, 2nd: $25, 3rd: $125)
Frontier Airlines: $90 (1st: $15, 2nd: $25, 3rd: $50)
AirTran: $90 (1st: $15, 2nd: $25, 3rd: $50)
Delta: $165 (1st: $15, 2nd: $25, 3rd: $125)
US Airways: $140 (1st: $15, 2nd: $25, 3rd: $100)
American Airlines: $140 (1st: $15, 2nd: $25, 3rd: $100)

Obviously Southwest would be the cheapest, but as it stands at the moment, their fair would be more and it would come out about even. I'll have to keep an eye on their fairs, maybe they will come down as July approaches.
