And I didn't even hesitate for a second.
On my way to the internship I walked by some parked cars this morning. During the night we had -21°C. In the morning it was still -15°C. A dog started to bark, and I looked around. The dog was in one of the cars, and he only barked when I went away but was completely quiet and had a friendly expression when I peered inside the car. The car was the only one in the row that had lots of ice on it, indicating that it hadn't been moved in some time. The dog obviously wanted to be noticed.
Considering the state of the car, the dog, and the temperature, I called the police and told them everything, giving them the exact location and the license plate. They were nice. This evening I called them again to ask what had happened, and the officer told me that they'd been able to contact the car owner and he'd gone to take care of his dog.
All's well that ends well, and I'm relieved the police acted.
Still, I wonder who leaves his pet alone for such a long time that the car ices over in such freezing cold temperatures...
