Recap: 2007

Dec 31, 2007 20:16

Well here it is, another year coming to a close. And how did this one go for the Iap, you may be wondering? Well, let's see:

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Mmmm...nothing of consequence, really.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Given my track record, the outlook for resolutions in 2008 isn't looking that terrific.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not this year.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My great-aunt Berniel died, but we weren't really close. At least, not close enough for me to care beyond an "Oh no".

5. What countries did you visit?
I have once again remained in the continental United States all year.

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Less weight, more motivation to lose said weight, better control over my temper.

7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
October 8, 2007 - the appellate court rules in the library's favor for the building permit, and the city council decides not to appeal again.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Probably being scripture reader at my friend's wedding this past summer.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Realizing that I'm the only person out of my group of friends who is a) single and b) not really doing anything with her life.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Eh, not really. Don't think the excema counts, anyway.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
The LJ permanent account, natch. Now if only I knew what the hell happened to that one check I had to stop payment on???

14. Where did most of your money go?
College loan payments, car insurance payments and health insurance payments.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The library won! The library won!

16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Hmm... I think it's a tie between Nickelback's "Photograph" and Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats".

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

Happier or sadder? Mmm... middling.
Older or wiser? Older.
Thinner or Fatter? Fatter...not really surprising there.
Richer or poorer? Richer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Exercising, spending time with my friends and family.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sitting at the computer, eating.

20. How will did you spend Christmas?
At my house, both days; this year everybody came to our house and it's still standing!.

22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Love? What is that?

23. How many one-night stands?
Still with the kidding, eh?

24. What was your favourite TV program?
Heroes

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
There are those who have pissed me off, yes.

26. What was the best book you read?
Hmm. Pretty broad spectrum of good books this year. I'll just say that my best literary discovery this year was the ...In Death series by J.D. Robb and leave it at that.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Carrie Underwood, and the soundtrack to Sci-Fi's Tin Man.

28. What did you want and get?
I finally, finally caught up with my friend Tracy after five years. And my room finally got redone.

29. What did you want and not get?
Eh, nothing really. You don't get disappointed if you don't expect stuff.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I only saw four movies this year, and out of the four I'd probably have to say I liked Evan Almighty the best. No Reservations comes in at a close second.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Turned 26. Baby-sat my cousin Chase until I had to go to work (NEVER AGAIN on my special day. NEVER AGAIN), went to work and had flowers delivered to me at work. That was kind of cool.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Considering we won against the city...nothing, really. :)

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Still the same two-plus years running: jeans, sweat/tee-shirts, socks and tennis shoes.

34. What kept you sane?
I'm beginning to think that sanity is overrated.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Alan Cumming.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Byron Public Library vs. The City of Byron, which now has just dwindled to the library vs. two council members who apparently don't think that enough is enough and so are still acting like idiots even though we've got our permit.

37. Who did you miss?
Kelly. Nikki. Tracy. Grandma.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Hmmm...it's a tie between Pastor Marie (my church's interim pastor) and Wayne (the library's new assistant director - and the only male on the staff!).

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
Miracles do happen. And people in Illinois drive like idiots.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"I can't be afraid, 'cause it's my turn to be brave."
