How fast time seems to be going at the moment, and how intense life seems to have become is kind of bewildering. It's been an odd week. I managed to ruin 3 weeks worth of notes with one bottle of juice carelessly left in my bag - I'm keeping them though, though they may be a little orange now and curly with water damage. As long as I can read them.
I've had (as those of you who are on my facebook may have picked up on) what can only be described as a massive tizzy about housing next year. I had settled on going to private halls of residence, in the mistaken belief that they'd only be £74 a week. That's pretty pricey, but I could have made it. Until I found out recently, with the new lists coming out, that the £74 a week ones are miles away from uni and the ones I was interested in cost £82 a week. And that overall, they'd charge about £400 more than my maintanance loan can cover so I'd be £400 down without even eating, buying any books, clothing myself or going out with friends. Cue huge panic. But it's looking more OK now. I got a message from my friend Gareth and he's in a similar situation - so we're going to go house hunt together and beseech random students to come live with us. So I won't have to live completely with strangers in a shared house and I won't have to pay more than I can afford (in theory).
Also! Tomorrow is the day I go to Bath to hang out with Matt and see Dr Ben Goldachre. Words cannot describe how massively excited I am. And because its my first visit to Bath and it is very beautiful, by all accounts, Matt's suggested we do some touristy stuff like go see the Roman Baths. What could be better than that? I've decided in my head that it's a day of edutainmance (that is education + entertainment + romance because I'll learn things, it'll be fun and I'll be with Matt). The only downside is that I have to get up at 8am in order to have time to shower and eat and make it to the station by 10. Oh well, I could nap on the train, maybe.
Also, in a nod to the traditional courtship mix tape, I made Matt a CD (high honour indeed - normally close friends and sisters are the only ones to receive the mix CD) to shed some light on my taste in music. And because I've had a lot to do but not much drive to do it, I also wrote notes to accompany each song and explain why I chose it. Embarassingly, these notes came up to just over 1800 words... that's more than one of my essays. So really, I have no excuse - I can very easily churn out thousands of words when I feel like it. I also made a little box for it, decorated said box, it has a little pocket for the notes and a pocket for the CD itself with a fold down flap to protect it/stop it falling out. I'd have done about 5 more if I had some justification, anything to avoid reading 60 pages about 'the search for the Welsh past in the Romantic era' ><
