I agree. I know I use that in my stories too; have some humor to offset the darkness (um, no pun intended all things considered), and INTO DARKNESS did that amazingly. I know stuff like Bones' metaphors, Bones flirting with Carol Marcus, etc. we're some really good examples. (And drunk Scotty. That was also great. XD) And yes, the banter was phenomenal. :) And so agreed with you regarding the cast -- they really feel like they've become a family. For all intents and purposes, they are the crew of the ENTERPRISE, really.
And so very much agreed about Khan. Seriously. And the theme of "family" really is pretty strong in this film, it really is.
And that's definitely a good question regarding the other superbeings' blood. My guess that they didn't want to go through the no doubt difficult process of unfreezing them and getting the blood, and Khan was the closest one they could get, but yeah. And I'm also wondering if Kirk might get some of Khan's superstrength and other powers, but then again, I suppose not. (I loved Bones' comment about it, about whether or not Kirk was feeling homicidal. XD That was one of my favorite Bones lines in the movie, which says volumes considering Bones had a ton of great lines)
