Well, finally got around to watching STAR TREK THE MOTION PICTURE.

Let's say it's been lying around for me to watch for quite a while. Anyway, it was pretty good! Loved it. :)

Things I Loved:

-The opening scene with the Curb Stomp Battle between V'ger and those Klingons. I just love the atmosphere and the dread of it.

-Kirk and Scotty talking at the beginning. There was something about them that just felt a lot like the camaraderie from the Original Series.

+ Honestly, pretty much everyone on the crew and the way they interacted reminded me of the interactions from the Original Series. Just how close they were -- I think it's really one thing I love about the crew of the ENTERPRISE. They're not just a crew, but practically family.

-Spock sensing V'ger on Vulcan. Just a really well-executed scene.

+ Speaking of Spock, Kirk's reaction when he shows up on the ENTERPRISE after a long time. Also, Bones' reaction. And just seeing the two of them bickering again -- it's always really fun to watch. :)

-Beaming up Bones. Especially his "they drafted me" line; that was pretty funny. :)

-The transporter scene. Brrr... *Shivers* I know those screams and "Enterprise, what we got back didn't live long, fortunately" are going to haunt my nightmares. Not to mention Kirk's reaction.

-Though it did drag at times (see Things That Bugged Me, below), I loved stuff like the shots of the new ENTERPRISE (I think it's Kirk's reactions that really did it. There's something about Shatner's eyes that's just so...expressive in that scene. And the music is gorgeous), as well as delving inside V'ger. So much detail.

-While we're on the subject of V'ger, I like the concept of V'ger. Sort of a creature who doesn't really realize what she's doing is going to wipe out all life on Earth; if anything, she sees it as doing the right thing. Not to mention the matter of wanting to find out who the creator is -- in a way, it's sort of like she has all the knowledge in the universe, except who created her. Who she is, in a way. (If...that makes any sense) That and the sound design for V'ger; even though some parts of it did remind me of a chord played off an electric guitar or something. I think my only problem is, honestly? I want to learn a bit more about V'ger.

-Kirk's reaction to Spock being hurt after mind-melding with V'ger, as well as his conversation with him in sickbay.

-Also, Ilia and Decker's interactions, e.g. the little smile that Ilia gives Decker at one point, and their conversation in regards to Decker leaving Delta IV.

-Persis Khambatta did an amazing job, first as Ilia, and later, as V'ger-speaking-through-Ilia.

Things that bugged me a bit:

I will admit there were scenes that dragged a bit, e.g. the shot of the ENTERPRISE and such, as well as delving deeper into V'ger. I can understand grandeur and building atmosphere, but there were times when the scenes just dragged on a little too long for my liking.

So, overall? Loved it. Definitely recommend. :)
