I hadn't gotten around to reading the prequels, but Mel sent me over to check this out.

I liked it, but I think I would have really liked it sans Alan/Colby. I'm sorry, I just can't buy it. I like them as chess partners and friends, but not lovers. Hey, I tried at least.

The AU backstory for Don was interesting though. I think you wrote his emotional reactions well and I'd be interested in reading any prequels that were based on the original threesome.

Hey Emma. Glad to see you gave this a read. Marching Home is about Alan/Margaret/Charlie (and short) starting from the draft lottery and ending about where this one starts.

Alan/Colby was a direct request from a devoted fan who had helped me through some other stuff so I took it on as a challenge and I'm a bit of a sucker for those.

I'm not sure about prequels but I do have an idea for a sequel where Don and Colby manage to find the guys Charlie was a POW with and find out what happened to him.

Okay, I went back and read the previous ones. They rounded out the story very nicely. I enjoyed the arcs that went through all of them. A different sort of Alan, but one based enough on canon to ring true enough to accept - which is saying something given the threesome angle. I'd still like a prequel or two before the draft, but at least you have some of what I was hoping for.

I do hope you do that sequel. It would be nice to wrap this up for Don and for Alan.

I'm glad Mel got me to read this. Nice work...

Well thank you for giving this a read. I always value your opinion. I think the sequel will happen at some point. Don and Alan do need a bit of closure and I think Charlie finally needs to come home.

Do not listen to the Alan/Colby haters! This is exquisite. Yes, very angsty, but hopeful in a genuine, touching way. I love how Alan and Colby are using each other, but also growing beyond that to something more 'real'.

I enjoyed Charlie's snarking about the mid life crisis, and I was pleased with the tricksy ending (I thought they were going to surf, but ending up at The Wall was SO much better, and so much more healing).

Don took things well, over all, and I'm glad he was willing to accept his parentage, for Alan's sake. Like everyone else, I truly loved the back story about Charlie Lathrup -- my heart is broken over his death, but it is what happened (and still happens) and at least Alan is finally getting some closure.

And some Colby. ♥

Thank you for this, I love it.

Glad you liked it. If you hadn't of asked for it, it probubly wouldn't of happened. If you want a little comic side note just picture Don trying to explain everything to his therapist.

...and, errr...you know I wouldn't mind some kind of sequel where Colby's interesting comment "I have issues..." is explored. I just KNOW you know what that's about.

Not to be pushy, or anything. *cough*

Actually I have no idea what that's about. Sometimes the characters just tell me to write something and I do, I don't always know why they want it there. I'll ask Colby but I'm not sure if he's going to tell me any more than he's telling Don.

I totally understand! I just love the universe you've created with those characters, so I'll happily take more if it ever appears. *is not greedy, no, not at all*

Well I've got at least one more story but I'm very backlogged with lots of rabid bunnies right now so it'll take time.
