Lol, god how is SPN still going? i don't even want to know what season it's on.
Season 4-5 really were the nail in the coffin for me, when Bonnie was so determined to not even let her friends mourn her because she just didn't see any value in herself. It was shitty to watch. Also I didn't care about this travelers nonsense, so I quit. I then came back for a few episodes in season 6 when Bonnie and Damon and Kai were in that other world, and the episode where Bonnie tried to kill herself but then realised that she couldn't give up. I then heard about Bonenzo in season 7 so I watched their scenes but didn't watch the whole season. Then season 8 I thought at the beginning I'll watch the whole season for old times' sake because I knew it was short. But I got bored and quit a few episodes in, watched the Bonnie/Enzo scenes, and a few episodes here and there, and then came back for the finale.
I think ultimately, Bonnie's narrative has been one of self-realization. And her ending in the finale at least feels satisfying because the show had realized in the last two or so seasons what the crux of Bonnie's struggle was and it was dealing with some of those issues consciously - I think part of that has to do with Elena leaving, and now the show had to treat both Caroline and Bonnie as leading ladies. And while there were issues, many of them, I actually think these last couple of seasons have delivered some of the best Bonnie ever.
Sigh, a mess of a show. But glad she lived and her story ends on so much possibility.

Now Bonnie's going to go back to Africa!
I had to quit when they brought back Matt Davis. I cannot stand his trash ass. All those other characters died, better characters and Alaric is back ... and I never really got over the whole Martin Family being excited with no explanation and hardly any information about their background outside of the vampire bs.
And then the show was blatantly racist and radicalized and Bonnie Bennett was not enough to keep me around. The abuse of that character was too much for me. I had to let her go.
