Okay, so I need somewhere to wail about this silly little show that won't steadily drive me to drink i.e. Tumblr.

I need to watch the episode again because I saw (most of it) this morning while still mostly delirious and in-between getting ready for work, and missed several scenes.

H O W E V E R, I did not miss this magical (and fucked up!)

I'm blind to all other arguments. (Not that I've seen any on account of only following app. 10 and a half people, but apparently I am to understand that there are people out there who are not here for this. Are they allergic to chemistry? Truly mystifying.)

Also, Raphael is the loml and I gladly welcome increased screen-time and also torment and agony. ("She doesn't remember me, yet I can't forget her"... AND YOU CRY AND YOUR TEARS ARE THE BLOOD OF THE INNOCENTS!!!!!1!!!!)

I've been dreading the eventual approach of "Sizzy" but so far it's been basically nonexistent so I'll chill.

Other thought bubbles:
- Luke fucked up. I... don't agree with reviews that Maia is being point-blank villainized, though. However, I've been known to be an obnoxious Polyanna about narrative intent.
- The way Clary's character was framed in the books was substantially more tiresome IMO and onscreen!Clary actually has charm because Kat McNamara, so there's also that.
- Very whelmed by what they've been doing with Malec this season. WHY AREN'T THEY THE ONES ROCKING IN A BOAT, SMH.

They are allergic to chemistry and beautiful women or something. SHAME. I hope the show keeps with it because so far the showrunner appears to be very gleeful about these two in spite of fandom's non-stop whining.

- Word on Luke. And YES re: Maia - I can't tell if I'm quibbling on semantics or what but even saying they're "villainizing" her doesn't make much sense to me. That's not what they're doing. In general I feel like Tumblr fandom obsession with ~intent~ has ruined pretty much all fannish discourse for me.
- Yes to Clary. She's got a long way to go to reach true levels of terrible. The charm and moments of self-awareness from her and other characters about her are doing a lot to mitigate how annoying she could be.
- It's so crazy to me, did they straight up leach them of whatever chemistry they had? I don't get it. They're so... meh. And given I'm a physicality whore, their utter lack of physicality is making it hard for me to be excited. But it's more than that, there's just something ... eh. I like good, wholesome conversations where everyone gets each other and so much ~true love and understanding~~~~ as much as the next person but there's something not quite hitting it for me. And I'm not sure what'd fix it - I just know I would know it when I see it.
