TVD 3.10 thoughts: "the slow spiral into insanity...."

Okay, so I haven't written episode reaction posts in a long time. But, this show, you guys. I feel like I need to do this for my own sanity (and for an episode obsessed with the idea of sanity/insanity, that's fitting). Also, I re-watched it this morning and it was good, it's always good without ad breaks, isn't it?

LOL, I'm glad you likey. Caroline gave me particular joy in that terrible AU, I don't know why. The story of Damon's hair and the evil make-up person in the TVD costume department that clearly has some kind of vendetta, constantly gives me life.

I just want all of the fic of Klaus spending years just having in-depth conversations with the corpses of his dead family. You know, since he's so ~lonely~ and stuff and he's not all there in the head. He'll bring them out for tea some mornings or to watch the sunset while he drinks himself to a stupor and inevitably ends crying buckets of salty tears into the wood and being generally ridiculous. Also now that he has Rebekah's body, he'll set her up in a nice room with all the frills and stroke her hair while he goes on and on and weeps a lot. It'll be amazing.

I've seen some worry that the compulsion was supposed to come across as The Right Thing, but… on this show? No. I just never worry about that anymore. It's wholly irrelevant to the equation.

THIS. And lord, it's such a tiresome discussion, and so damn irrelevant that I want to scratch my eyes out with a twig every single time someone brings it up. And the fandom sure does like to get bogged down in that nonsense and it's like, seriously - television: you are doing it wrong.

6. The ships on this show are almost absurdly meta, you know? This one especially (and Damon/Katherine).

9. I'm praying so. I have a rocky relationship with Stefan and I really don't want to get angry about things if they do the worst with him (I can't lie, I'm still slightly bitter about the way they've handled him even though I understand given the constraints of the story and an TV show, they can't really have him go full and utterly unapologetically
ripper in Mystic Falls just for my viewing pleasure).

Unfinished Business and everything to do with Gaius' trial and the last ten minutes of the last episode made it worth it though. UNFINISHED BUSINESS (crying).
