Summary : Nélia develops a wild plan to keep her parents from breaking up.
Nélia was very clever for her age, she have an active curious mind and keen to know and study about everything around her. She was able to read her 1st word when she was only 18 months. Now that she is six instead of playing at make-believe or hopping from one activity to another she take up one task at a time but one which will have a tangible outcome. Like saving her parents’ marriage.
She wasn't a normal child, not only because she is a daughter of a gay couple but because she was very mature for her age. She could sense when her fathers are exhausted and tried to help them by well behaving and being as quiet as she can, sometimes, she'll cheer them up by giving some theatrical shows or magical numbers. But all of that isn't working right now, even the bed time story she's used to read them to make them relax ( she isn't stupid, she knows that her parents only pretends to be asleep until she fall asleep herself) wasn't working.
Because of this situations, she decided to do something, she has to do something real soon because Junsu; her mommy; didn’t smile at her at all when they were taking their breakfast, and Yoochun; her daddy; didn't do her hair before going to school this morning. Even worse, they didn't have their group hug when they dropped her at school as they've been doing since she can remember. Today she'll her time at school to find a way to bring the happiness back to her home, she refuses to let her father be sad to extent to ask for divorce, she doesn't want to have to see one of her fathers on weekends only.
While all the children were busy, she was reminiscing the conversation between her mommy and daddy:
- Junsu, You promised that we will stop running away the moment we get a child.
- I know but Yoochun I can’t take that risk, what if they take her away? What if they hurt you? I can't live without either of you.
- It has been years, maybe they changed their mind, and maybe they'll accept us now that you proved that you could be happy that you could build a family like they wanted you to do.
- I know my parents, they are as stubborn as a rock and they'll never change even for their own child. And don't want Nélia to be taken away from us or us to be forced to be separated.
- Did you even think about me, Nélia or us? We have a life here, we have jobs, friends and future. What about Nélia's school? Her friends?
- She can have new friends at a new school, she can....
- We are in the fucking middle of the year, no school will accept her now, and she’ll have to wait until next year. And what about our jobs? This damn apartment we just bought?
They were yelling at each other at that moment, and Nélia was scared, very scared and the blanket she put over her head didn't help her at all.
- We can always buy a new one, we did it before and we can do it again.
- Junsu, this is our HOME, This is the life we promised to cherish and protect.
-and this is exactly what I’m doing, I’m protecting my family.
- No, you're a coward, you're running away from your responsibilities by taking the easiest road for you. And I can't be that selfish.
- What do you mean?
- I mean that neither I nor my daughter will move from this life, this city, this HOME.
Yoochun left the room and went out slamming the door very hard startling Nélia who was crying right now silently so mommy Junsu won't hear her and knows that she was eavesdropping.
With all the memories of yesterday back, she couldn't help but cry again. But she wiped away her tears, her eyes were showing determination right now, determination to bring back happiness. And for that she needs to convince her grandparents to let them be happy.
There is one little problem. Where can she find her grandparents?
