controversial sort of, so I will just put it in my journal...sounds like a good plan!

I'll be upfront at the beginning so you don't have to read this if you don't give a shit or you are too personally touched by the matter at hand, but this is regarding circumcision. It's a passionate rant of sorts, I suppose ( Read more... )

i dated a guy who was subjected to a botched circumcision when he was an infant. as a result he lost an enormous amount of sensitivity. granted he could still perform and get plenty of pleasure out of sex, but he couldn't help but think about what he was missing out on at the hands of some shitty doctor.

it's totally fucked. i don't understand it. FORESKINS ARE NOT THAT SCARY.

I try not to rant too much because really...it is a TOUCHY subject...and understandably so. If a woman who has had her children circ'd overhears someone like me ranting they wouldn't listen, because people don't like to be made to feel like maybe they didn't make the best choice for their kid. And I certainly don't ever want to make a guy that HAS been circ'd feel like he is less of a man or something. I just can't help but feel when it comes down to it, only the person who OWNS the body can choose what they want or don't want done to themselves.

But anyway! I am happy to hear that you understand. :P

Though not necisarry non circumcised apparently can get infections or something more easily. Though it's so insignificant it doesn't really matter. I personally don't mind being cut, but then again I don't really have anything else to compare to.

I personally don't have much of a position one way or another.

If I had all of my extra skin from my vulva removed I might get fewer yeast infections. Less enclosed tissue leaves less area for moisture and bacteria. It's the same excuse, but no one is doing this. I don't buy into the "no foreskin = less disease" excuse because that argument can honestly be applied to any body part. If you remove your pinkie toes at birth you have less of a chance of breaking them later! And if it is done from birth it's not like they will know the difference. This is obviously an extreme example, I realize that. But...to remove a normal body part that does have a specific function because you assume it "might" have a problem later is not a legitimate reason to go through with a surgery ( ... )
