Work (including Haunt) stuff and life stuff

Last post of the evening, I promise.
I was so very glad to see the end of the summer season at Knotts! Enough of the hot weather and stupid guests. When I was asked if I wanted to work Inventory again I didn't have to think about it. Two weeks of near full time work (when hours were being cut right and left elsewhere), at night when it is cooler, allowed to wear jeans and a t-shirt, and best of all, no guests! Inventory was hard, interesting, and over just in time. Part of it is fun, since all the last minute Haunt stuff is going on. But it is mostly tedious, painstaking work. Since the crew was smaller than last year we got the full 8 hours of work most nights. With the additional $ for working past midnight, it made my last paycheck much happier.
I had one regular Gallery shift this week-yesterday. No more polyester Wild West outfit for a month! Kind of an odd shift. On one hand, very slow. Very few people in the park. I think we took photos of most of them. So instead we did Haunt stuff. The coffin and the new rolling cart (we use it for the printer and the computer) showed up. Also costuming sent over a bunch of stuff they aren't using this season. So the Gallery now has an odd collection of costumes people can put on for Haunt photos. We have not one, but two Elvis outfits. One of the cloak things looks like the costume my son used for the Dark Realm maze two years ago. Funny.

I have had a look at some of the new mazes. I'm impressed by what I saw. Dia de los Muertos is good. Terror of London as well. Asylum:Lockdown was far better than I had expected. All definately work seeing. I also got to see a bunch of my Haunt friends, so now I'm excited about the start of Haunt.I may not be working all of Haunt. Since we are so short handed during the week it looks like I may have some day shifts as well.

Still really busy with other stuff. Mom has two doctor appointments this week. The one on Saturday is a return trip to see the skin doctor to make sure they got all the cancerous cells on her nose.

I'm thinking it's time for me to start work again on a manuscript of mine. I call it "How to Survive the Holiday Season." Sort of a self-help book for all ages on the practical aspects of the Christmas holidays.
