My inventory shift on Monday night ended at midnight, so getting mom to the eye doctor wasn't too bad. The doctor is very happy with her healing. She goes back in 2 weeks for another check up. By then her eyes should be healed enough for new glasses-if she needs them. I took her over to Target afterwards so she could get some ladylike sunglasses. She says it's strange not wearing glasses all the time. We drove up to the San Gabriel Valley where we had a nice visit with my sister-in-love Bear. She's doing well and starting to think about her defense of her title of the Women's International Whistling Champion (and she has the trophy to prove it!). On the way home from there we drove through my old hometown where we made the happy discovery of a good Mexican restraurant on the site of an old tortilla shop. Home church in the evening. We had been on break since before the holidays, so it was nice to see folks again and to catch up on news.
On Tuesday my back was bothering me quite a bit. I'm wondering if I did something stupid to it on Monday night. By Wednesday my lower back was in complete revolt. Even a visit to my chiropractor didn't really help. Time for ice packs and a whole lot more sleep. Mom and I did manage to fix a nice dinner for my kids. It was a nice visit.
Thursday I somehow survived a 7 hour Gallery shift. Luckily we weren't too busy. Came home and collapsed. Today I woke up feeling a bit better. After a short sift at Knotts I went down to Santa Ana for a tb test for my new job. Came home and collapsed for a short time. I was able to get some very light housework done.
I've canceled most of my plans for the weekend. I need to be well before I start teaching again on Tuesday! I'm not scheduled for any Knotts shifts for at least a week, which, though I need the money, if probably a good thing. Much to do, once I'm feeling better. Starting with getting the Christmas boxes out of my front room!
