It's (about two weeks past) that time of year again! Ahahahaha, I am never on time for anything. But I like to do these fic roundups so here we go:

Total written: 10 fics, 6 ficlets.
Total wordcount for 2012: 138 200 words
Not bad considering I was working insanely most of the year and didn't feel like I was getting much writing done at all. Definitely wrote less in the latter half of the year, but I had a lot going on in RL.
Leitmotif(s) of the year:
Oh god, probably misunderstandings? Lots of epic misunderstandings about relationships/potential relationships and communication stuff. Also: GET RAY LAID, with like, as many people as possible (Mikey, Ian, Spencer, Patrick, Christa etc.) I'm happy with that.
My best story of this year:
Mmm, probably We Used To Be Friends, because I really put a lot of effort into it. Technically I wrote it in 2011, but I didn't really FINISH it until 2012 so I'm counting on that loophole!

Oh man, Ass-Kickin' Chick Music definitely makes me stupid happy. I love that fic a ridiculous amount. There is a lot of me in that fic.

Ahhh well according to my stats on AO3 that gong goes to While You Were Unconscious! I am a little surprised by that. Huh. I guess I didn't write THAT much Frank/Gerard this year and that pairing tends to be the most popular, so maybe that's why.
Story of mine most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Oh man, I have no idea. I mean, the rarer pairings don't get as many hits, but they tend to get great comments so… I really have no idea. I am just happy anyone actually reads my stuff.
Story that could have been better?
I must admit I had pretty big plans for my stuffsit fic On Air initially, but time got the better of me. I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out, but the idea was to follow it through further, actually get past the initial flirtation and have some actual porn. Looking back I'm still not exactly sure how I could have made that happen, so maybe it's better the way it is.
Most fun story to write:
Oh man, this is a tie between Wishing It's Real and Eruption for SURE. Both were really low-stress because they essentially started out as twitterfic banter back and forth between Penny and Eledh and a lot of folks were following the twitter feed and commenting along the way and they were just FUN. I know they are not exactly examples of high literature, but they still make me smile.
Sexiest story?
Oh man, I don't know. I don't feel as though I was exactly batting to my usual average in the porn stakes this year. Maybe Out Of My Head? Since it was pretty much solely concerned with sex. I'm also pretty chuffed with the sexy scenes in We Used To Be Friends because I feel like I got the balance between it being sexy, but also silly and fun in the vein of their friendship. Oh and I was really happy with the way the porn in Wishing It's Real (And Knowing It's Not) came out.
Hardest story to write:
Oh dear, most of the ones I was having REAL trouble with I just didn't finish. Isn't that terrible? I guess I had some fits and starts with We Used To Be Friends because it was so huge, and On Air was tricky because I was so aware I was writing FOR someone and wanted to make sure I was producing something that would work for them, so I was second-guessing myself a lot.
Easiest story to write?
I won't mention the co-write not!fics because that just feels like cheating. The Trope Meme ficlets came pretty easily - but then there is something about writing for a meme where I'm typing straight into the comment box that somehow removes a lot of my self-conscious blocks and just lets me get words out. Plus there is the time pressure of trying to get stuff posted before people get bored and stop reading, so I was pleased with how quickly most of those ficlets came out.
Biggest disappointment.
That I didn't finish my fic for polybigbang. I really like that challenge and I really love the fic bunny I have for it, but I just didn't have time this go-around. I'm not giving up on that idea though!
Biggest surprise.
Probably writing Ray/Patrick. I mean, I don't even know where that came from! Actually no, I do, it was all cee_m's fault! But if I'd gone on to write the Ray/Patrick/Pete/Mikey that it bunnied I think I would be even more surprised.
Most unintentionally telling story.
Heh. Probably Ass-Kickin' Chick Music Um. I feel like I've said enough.
Where did you publish/archive your stories?
LJ and AO3, except the co-writes which are solely AO3. I'm starting to wonder if I should bother continuing to post to LJ or just put everything on AO3 and crosspost headers to LJ. It's nice to have the redundancy of having fic in two places, but LJ is so unreliable now I wonder if it's worth the effort.
Story I haven't yet written, but intend to:
Oh god my WIP folder makes me want to CRY. I have the definite beginnings and a solid sketch in my head of the MCR poly fic of my heart that follows on from the schmoopiest gang bang and I will NOT give up on writing that yet. I also still owe Aka more Hooker Frank - I have at least another snapshot from that verse in my head that needs writing. I also have my no_tags to write, and my never-ending quest to get Ray laid CONTINUES. So, yeah, plenty to do.
In Conclusion
Seems 2012 will go down as my year of Frank/Mikey, and Ray/everyone LOL. I wrote a startling amount of non-porny fic this year. And not as much Frank/Gerard - I must admit I miss that pairing. A lot of the fic I actually FINISHED was either for challenges or for memes, which just goes to show that when I'm really busy RL it's the stuff with a deadline I'll actually finish and the stuff that falls by the wayside will be the stuff where I'm letting down none but myself.
Next Year?
I don't know what this year will bring. It feels like I have less and less time for fannish stuff, which makes me sad. It's weird though, I feel like fandom is changing and splintering - LJ is getting less reliable and people are moving to DW, or tumblr, or twitter, and it's just not the community it used to be. That makes me sad too, but there's no point rallying against change, is there? I just love my fannish community and I feel like it's such an awesome safe space full of super talented people and I don't want to lose you guys. Wow, downer note to end on - whoops!
