Okay, so there was some discussion happening on twitter, and it's become obvious pretty fast Twitter is not a medium to cope with these thoughts. So, I pose to you a question

I said this in brief on Twitter, but Buffy was my first fandom where I really got into D/s. Usually Spike domming Xander, occasionally Angelus domming Spike. i didn't notice until reading D/s in other fandoms, but Buffy-and-or-Angel fic has a habit of making their D/s really dub-con. The whole Sire can do whatever they want to the Childe, whether they like it or not, or vampire can own a human, whether they like it or not. There was a lot that looking with more seasoned eyes I can see is not so much D/s as just sexual slavery. Which, I mean, is a trope I'm also totally down for. I like that too. I just wish I could remember how all of it was labelled (nearly all of it was on geocities, which is gone now, so I can't go check). I'm pretty sure it was just D/s, no dub-con warnings

I hate Rogue in the movies. UGH. (Also, because I firmly believe that Rogue belongs with Gambit, and they totally ruined Gambit in Origins, so now I can't even have that...)

Give me all the Angelus/Spike fic please. I have severe dislike for Angel... he was always so much more interesting as Angelus, but I also like the fics where it's not sexual slavery, but an actual D/s... or well, Sire/Childe bond. I like fics where they actually explore what that means and its not straight out, one dimensional "I am the boss of you rawr!" type deal

I think for a very small period of time I could find Snape sexy, and then I saw a few humor vids, like the classic I'm Too Sexy For My... and that ruined him. Except that one scene in OOTP, where he grabs Harry and Ron both by the hair. I'd read that threesome.

My dislike of Rogue runs SO STRONG. I think she's possibly the character I like the least of any movie I've ever watched. Jasley's heard my rant like 500 times. So happy I'm not the only one!

Bobby/John. NO ONE ELSE. Or like, the classic set up where they're both dating other people, but realise how miserable they are and dump their exes and get together.

I have a few looser OTPs. Like Sid/Tony from Skins belong together. But I could tolerate reading other slash, or Sid/Tony/Michelle. I also end game ship Brian and Michael in QAF, but am willing to let them be happy with Ben and Justin until Justin flakes off and Ben dies. and then they find comfort in each other.

But yeah. Bobby/John FOREVER NO ONE ELSE. Putting them with other people is Wrong. And Bad. And WRONG.

I've never noticed it before but, from my experiences, you're completely right about the lack of orgies in other fandoms. I'm pretty sure I haven't read any in any other fandom, or if I have, they've been by far in the minority.

I've also noticed that there seem to be far more completely AU AUs in bandom, compared to slightly different plot changes AUs in other fandoms (does that make sense?). I have to say I really like that about bandom. It's a fandom where I don't feel like there are limits to what you can do.

There is an awful lot of crossgen in HP and that's not something I've really found anywhere else. I think I've read some student/teacher relationships in other fandoms but I can't remember what.

(Also, I never thought I'd see the day where you would say you had an OTP gala. I think I might have slipped into a parrallel universe again)

This makes me SO SAD. I nearly always zero on in the threesome/moresome pairings in fic, I guess I didn't realise I had it so good in Bandom since I always want MORE fic like this. The idea of fandoms out there not having ANY? Saddest.

Like how the fuck can Buffy not have orgies? Buffy and Xander and Willow and Giles are SOUL BONDED at one point. And Sid/Tony/Michelle would have cleared up alllll the drama that season two of Skins had, and Tony's friend Maxxie was gay and blew him while Michelle was watching, why couldn't he join in? Hell, let the investigative team of Criminal Minds hook up. TEAM BONDING.

Bandom's all WHATEVS, IMMA MAKE MCR BUTTERFLIES :D I approve of this attitude.

In nearly all of my many fandoms, it's anyone/anyone, with more than two anyones as often as possible. But X-Men trilogy? ONLY BOBBY/JOHN. FOREVER. :D

Omg that HD Career Fest was awesome! It was one of the first fests that I went through and pretty much read everything of, because there were just so many great ones. I hadn't actually connected it in my mind as a more unusual thing, but talking to my housemates about HP fic today, I think you're completely right about the AUs being more of the type where just a few canon elements (say one big decision) were different. The bandom ones (and that career fest) are just a totally different thing. And AUs are definitely my favourite kind of fic now.

I mean, I didn't much ship H/D, I was very much a Gryffindor reader, but I found myself reading a lot just because WAIT...DRACO'S NOT A POTION MAKER? HE'S A HORSE TAMER? was such an interesting concept.

Before bandom, i always had to go to The OC or Skins or Buffy if I wanted high school fic, because I knew HP would not provide anything. Or Buffy and HP had the werewolves, or Skins and Buffy had the drug use fics. But Bandom just has alllllll the things :D *hugs bandom*
