I wrote this one for a secret santa exchange for slashxyouxup. I had way too much fun making basement!Gerard awkward and Pencey-era Frank all hot and cute. I believe this is the first Bandom fic I've posted with no overt sex scene. I like that it came out all sweet and adorable.
Five Days -- It's been five days since Gerard quit smoking. Frank/Gerard, 3000 wds
Caught a New Years Resolution bunny over at anon_lovefest and it turned into smoking porn. As a lifelong non-smoker I felt really bad when I kept getting feedback from recently-quit non smokers saying it made them want to light up. Um... sorry guys?
The Spark -- Mikey visits Pete after the FOB hiatus shenanigans. Pete/Mikey, 3300 wds
Oh this one. I have such warm fuzzies for this fic. I wrote it as gift fic for b_dsaint because she'd had a shitty week, and it's all about Mikey stepping in to comfort Pete after the incredibly shitty week he had when FOB went on hiatus. I was really happy with how it came out, particularly their relationship.

Silly, silly porn about teenage pot-dreads Frank and recently-graduated Gee getting high and messing around. The idea that Frank lost his virginity to Green Day's Kerplunk! album is fanon that villiagegreen invented for a story of hers, so I used it for inspiration when I wrote her this for her birthday. I know I probably fucked up the canon timing of Frank's pot dreads but I SO don't care.
Five Minus One Equals Four -- Bob Bryar is no longer in the band. Gen, 500 wds
My first Gen fic. Written the day of the announcement that Bob had left. A lot like therapy (I JUST WANTED TO SEE THE BOYS MOURN OKAY??) and I was surprised at how many people read it given the touchy subject matter.
Hard Candy -- Gerard is the failiest stripper. Frank/Gerard, 5300 wds
Oh god stupid, stupid porn where Gerard is a stripper at a gay peepshow and Frank stumbles across him. I've gotten a lot of feedback on this one which surprised me because I thought it was the silliest most self indulgent thing EVER, but then shiningartifact made a gorgeous podfic for it which I love and adore and probably listen to far too much.
No Experience Necessary -- The Pizza AU. Frank/Gerard, 26 000 wds
Oh lord - my Big Bang Wave One fic! My first really long (for me) fic in Bandom, based around my experiences in Uni delivering pizzas. I didn't really have a plan for this one, it just came out and something about the boys just fit for me in the messy, slacker pizza driver world. This was also the first time I'd written Mikey/Ray (as a side pairing, but still) and I think I'll always have a soft spot for them now.

Baby's first Pete/Patrick! Another anon_lovefest prompt that crawled up into my head and stayed there. I think I bashed this out in a matter of hours. I can't help it. I love jerkoff fic and underage, semi-public, getting-caught jerkoff fic is even better.

This one came about after I did the 'ask me about what happened right before/right after' meme, as a result of someone asking "what happened after 10:32: Length of a Scandal?" Which got me thinking about how Gerard probably would see the idea of a leaked sex tape as an opportunity rather than an embarrassment (where Mikey and Pete just want it all to go away). So of course, in the spirit of sibling rivalry, Gee would insist on having his OWN sex tape. Yeah, it's another silly one. Go me.

Just porn. OMG so much porn. I've never done sex pollen before and I think if I do it again I'll be so careful because holy crap, this was like 14 000 words where they don't leave the BED. Not even the bedroom. The BED. I blame dancinbutterfly for encouraging this crazy.

I'm sitting on over 40k of the sequel for this one where both bands wind up on Warped together that I like to call my Big Gay Soap Opera.

Okay, let's start with how dancinbutterfly gave me the UA movie prompt once upon a time and I was just going to write something short and then it just grew and grew and GREW until I knew it wanted to be my Big Bang for Wave 2, weird pairings and all. She cheerleaded the hell out of it for me and b_dsaint was SUCH a trooper - she beta'ed the shit out of this and remembering her notes still makes me giggle to this day (WHAT'S THE PANTONE NUMBER, GEE?) So do you remember way back when, before Sing and NaNaNa and before the Art Is A Weapon trailer when all we had to go on were four twitter accounts and some over processed photos? That was when I wrote this fic, and you know, I am still really proud of it, even though it got jossed to fuck. Whatever, it's origin fic. Gerard could totally have been the original Dr D, right? RIGHT? Oh and also, podklb made the most AMAZING podfic of this which I adore.

I blame villiagegreen for this. She convinced me to enter the pxp_flashbang and she put me onto The Decemberists, who have that awesome song The Bagman's Gambit about an affair with a spy and I just could not NOT do it. So there's nearly 12k of angsty, porny spyfic in my masterlist now. Go me!

Of course, this does not include ficlets or any of the eleventy billion WIPs I need to finish. Feels like a good number to me.

favorite story this year (of my own): Oh that's a hard one. I want to say In Production because of the sheer amount of work I put into it and how much of my heart and soul is locked in those pages, but somehow I think This Might Get Messy, Kids pips it at the post by just a little, because I just love the way that one came out. I like the energy of that 'verse and that story totally took me by surprise, in a GOOD way.
most popular story this year, in my opinion: Oh definitely No Experience Necessary. Probably because it was recced by bexless plus all the bandombigbang traffic, but I do think the story itself is a good one. Fluffy as hell, but awkward Gerard will always be my favourite.
most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Oh god I have NO idea. I guess I get less comments on the less popular pairings, but then I totally expect that. I am just so happy for ANY of the comments I get.
most fun story: Oh god! Probably Hard Candy. Because come ON, Gerard as a faily stripper? That was FUN.
sexiest story: Oh this one is easy. Emergency Contact Seriously, SO many orgasms. It's ALL sex. They don't even leave the BED.
"holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Okay, making Gerard a stripper and random public bathroom handjobs come close, but I think Ryan Ross the underage hooker might win this round, so yay me for How It Works.
story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Possibly Hot Metal and the general Dustverse, just because this is the first series where I really started to write Frank/Gerard without totally ignoring the wives/kids. It really changed the way I write their dynamic.
hardest story to write: If I could talk about unpublished fic this would be SO much easier. As it is, I think In Production just because it was so BIG and I had to try and think about PLOT and structure and like, find an ENDING. I still think that story has some fundamental flaws, but overall I am happy with how it came out.
biggest disappointment: Uh, I didn't really post the disppointing ones. I wish I'd finished more of my WIPs, I guess. Oh and I didn't think Five Days or Competitive Streak were anything special.
biggest surprise: This Might Get Messy, Kids totally took me by surprise. It just crawled up into my head and wouldn't leave. I was also pretty blown away by the good reception it received.
most telling story: Five Minus One Equals Four. Hi, that story was totally therapy for me.
overall: Lots of porn. Lots of fluff. I wrote a LOT more than I expected to. I'm surprised at how often I strayed from my OTP and even my OTP2 - there's a real variety of pairings here. I think that is a double edged sword as far as readership goes. And a lot of fic written to prompts. It seems I respond well to being prompted/poked.
ambitions for this year: I'd like to do bandombigbang again because it was such a good experience for me. I'd like to FINISH more fics, since I seem to have gotten into the bad habit of starting fics and then abandoning them when I get distracted by something new and shiny. Lastly, as much as I respond well to prompts and poking, I think I have a habit of dropping the stories that I want to work on when something shiny and new is being waved at me/cheerleaded for me. I think I need to try to break that habit, since some of my favourite stories I've written have been the ones that weren't prompted and I need to stop giving up on my own ideas so quickly.
