We went to the Newport Aquarium today. It's at Newport on the Levee. They have a $200 million dollar entertainment/shopping/restaurant district. It's really nice. We had lunch at the Claddagh Irish Pub. It looked medieval inside. The walls were made out of stone with sconces hanging from the walls and the tables were made out of thick wood. Their were wooden pews and thick wooden chairs. It had a really cool atmosphere and the food was really good. My husband said the Guinness was really good too.
The aquarium was pretty cool too. They had a lot of displays. The only problem was that it was so busy today that there were tons of people inside and a lot of them wouldn't get out of the way. I look at displays and take a picture or two and then move on so that others may get a chance too, but a whole lot of people would stand right in front of the display for 5 minutes and not move aside to let others get a look. This caused groups of 20-30 people to keep clumping together and then nobody could look or move about. Other than that it was really cool. It would have been better to go at a less busy time, but we didn't have any other time we could go.
I really liked the jellyfish. They were so cool. They had a few different displays with a bunch of little jellyfish. They look so neat! I took a few short video clips with my camera. Then we went to a surprise birthday party for my Uncle at his Little Caesars store. He was surprised. I was surprised because half my family is down here. Even my Grandma is down her. She was happy to see that we were here.
After that we drove over to Indiana to a riverboat casino. We didn't come away with anything. I spent $20 and my husband spent $20. I got down to less than $2 on the slots and then went back up to $21, but I decided to keep playing and ended up not coming away with anything. It was a bit fun. The ship and the casino complex were cooler than the gambling. It was really smoky on the boat. I don't do well in smoky areas. I can't breath and my nose clogs up and my eyes water. I've also been known to get a soar throat as well. It's not pleasant. But we only stayed about an hour. That's how long it took us to lose our money.
Then back to the hotel to watch "Paul Blart Mall Cop" and getting ready for bed. Tomorrow we will be heading home. It's going to be a long drive, but I can't wait to get home. I miss my cats and my garden.
