Yes, I'm more excited about this than I was about the swearing in of Obama. I'm sorry, but I can't help it! It's not that I don't like Obama, but I'm still a little sore about the whole Hillary not clinching the democratic nomination thing, and Secretary of State seems like a good consolation prize. I'm so excited! Naysayers beware for I will defend Hillary Clinton tooth and nail!
On a more serious note, although I do think she'll do a fantastic job I think Bill would've been the more natural choice for Secretary of State. He rubs people the wrong way less than Hillary does. If you ask me, Hill is an acquired taste, and I only hope the rest of the world has acquired it. I think they have. I think they have a lot more respect for her than most of the people in this country do- don't get me started on that... But Hillary's tough and she knows the people that she'll be working with internationally. She's a smart decision for Barack, and I can't wait to see how their teamwork pans out.
Now on a completely UNserious note, did anybody watch American Idol last night? If so, did you see how cute Simon and Paula were? Oh my goodness gracious, I squealed with almost as much feeling as I did when I was a wee lass of thirteen. I know, I know... This is a sick fixation that I've been more or less over for the past couple of years, but they are adorable and old habits die hard, especially when Simon and Paula are acting so much more affectionate than they have for the past two or three seasons! I mean come on! The arm on Paula's chair, the leaning in really close, the Paula on Simon's lap in the Jacksonville previews, and the look on Simon's face when Kara and Paula went under the table! :p I lurve them!
Look at it this way. When they finally do hook up and come out and say they're a couple, there will be nothing left for me to speculate over. That will be the end of it. Till then, if the season continues in this direction, prepare yourself for some good old fangirlish squeeing.
