Writer's Block: So Long, Farewell

Jan 19, 2009 11:14

I have no idea. History changes. For the next  fifty to seventy years or so he'll probably be remembered as predominantly incompetent and bumbling. After most of the people who lived through his presidency have passed away who can say how people will judge him? It depends on the situation we find ourselves in. How he is viewed in a hundred years might be different from how he is viewed in two hundred years. Personally, I have no love for George W. Bush. I think he has made a lot of horribly stupid decisions, but I chock a lot of the malicious ones up to the people he has surrounded himself with. I honestly don't think he's naturally malicious. Cowardly to a certain extent, but not malicious.

I find it ironic that in all likelihood George W. Bush will be remembered as one of our worst presidents while Andrew Jackson, whom I despise much more deeply than Bush, somehow ranks as one of our ten best presidents. His blatant human rights violations and complete disrespect and disregard for the Constitution equal and probably surpass those of George W. Bush, yet he is still believed to be an American hero.

Case in point- history is an amazing thing, but quite subjective and downright screwy at times. George W. Bush's legacy is anyone's guess.
