Da dum... Da dum... Da dum....

It may be a while before I do another night dive.

They warned us about Charlie during the orientation dive, but I completely forgot. I'm not sure I would have made it even had I remembered.

Basically, there's a tarpin--a big, huge, silver fish that uses night divers' lights as a hunting aid. So in the middle of our night dive, we're suddenly startled by this five-foot monster that came out of nowhere and started circling us... and circling us... and circling us. And every once in a while he would swim straight towards us, and only barely back off just when he was maybe a foot away.

I panicked. I straight-out, no-kidding, completely lost it. I was crying, hyperventilating, my mask kept filling up with water, and while trying to keep from drowning, I couldn't keep track of my depth, so I was also shooting up to the surface. Hubby had to grab me and keep my down while we were swimming back to shore. He let me go when we got back to the shallows, but then he had to grab me again when I just kept swimming and swimming, even when it was shallow enough to stand up and walk.

So that was my experience with panicking during a dive. Hopefully I'll be able to hold it together better if it happens again--but then again, this is me.

Yeah. Loooooooong time before I do another night dive.

Oh, and did I mention we bought some wine this afternoon? Yup. Wine is good.
