I see by the funky graphics up top that it's also LJ's tenth birthday. Happy birthday, LJ! (And please keep it going!)
Friday Fannish 5:
Name five characters who have traits you wish you possessed.
1. Jaina Solo. She's more kickass than I'll ever be. She gets scared, but never backs down. She also killed her brother, but hey--I don't have any brothers!
2. Leia Organa Solo. Ambition is the one thing I completely lack. Or else I'm just not in a hurry. Leia, on the other hand, knows what needs to be done, and does it. She didn't always have ambition for herself, so much as she did for her family and the galaxy. Nowadays, she's retired from saving the galaxy, and is doing what she always wanted, which was becoming a Jedi and being her husband's copilot. (And she's still hot, even in her sixties.)
3. Mara Jade. She was married to Luke Skywalker. She was brave, possibly beyond the limits of common sense. She was just hitting her stride when she met Luke, turned her life completely around, and became someone she could actually respect. Also, she saved her own son's life.
4. Mirax Terrick Horn. Also married to a Jedi (Corran Horn, for whom I keep a personalized drool bucket). Beyond that, she has her own business, is both independent and thoroughly driven, and likes to visit back alley spice dens and make deals with boogeymen. She and Mara have apparently never met, since if they had the galaxy would have imploded from sheer awesomeness.
5. Asyr Sei'lar. A Bothan woman who accidentally fell in love with a human man--after trying to have him strung up as an example. When their intention to marry got out (specifically, out to Borsk I-love-to-hate-him Fey'lya) she had the courage and brains to fake her own death, reconstruct her identity, get into a military academy as an instructor, and start reshaping the worst elements of politicized Bothan culture. She personally taught Admiral Traest Kre'fey, who--along with the utterly kickass Imperial Grand Admiral Gilad Pellaeon--defeated the Yuuzhan Vong at a few key battles during the war. That wouldn't have happened, had it not been for one cunning, malcontent woman who gave up everything to save her society.
