Tomorrow's job is math, but it's a half day at one of the nicer middle schools. Will be a refreshing break from high school demons kids. One of which I had to write up today because--really, you don't think you can spend the entire class moaning orgasmically and not think I'm going to give you a detention?
(Have I mentioned that I hate teenage boys?)
We're going to the shelter tomorrow, if we both get off work early enough. Or Saturday, if we're working too late. So far, from the website, it's looking kinda slim. There's a couple of very pretty Treeing Walker coonhounds, but those might be too high energy. We need someone who can spend six hours alone without tearing up the couch. (Said coonhounds are, however, both housetrained, so that might not be that much of an issue.) We'd only adopt one, but it says they're both great with other dogs, which is the other major-ish worry. Friend R. has agreed to the proposal of dogsitting for each other, so we'll need someone who isn't specifically an only dog.
Since our needs are fairly specific, I'm actually not set on finding someone immediately. I'm willing to wait for a good dog, rather than snagging the first pretty face I see.
Also, and very important: The shelter euthanizes for $25. I wish we'd known that with Lady. I know it sounds crass to worry about money under that circumstance, but paying several hundred dollars to put your friend out of her misery is just adding insult to injury. (The vet my parents went to in Baton Rouge euthanized for free, because he thought it was wrong to charge for that sort of thing.)
Am very much looking forward to having a dog again. Just the chance to run my fingers through fur is something I've missed terribly.
