First set of dive pics...

Okay, I've got a few pictures uploaded here. Most of my pics are still on hubby's computer; these are the few I'd put back onto my SD card so I could print them out and give them to our waiter as a thank-you (yes, we tipped him well, too!).

This is a small grouper/bass relative called a tobaccofish. No, I don't think he smokes.

Indigo hamlet. I've got a couple more pictures of this gentleman on hubby's Mac.

Following the rest of the group through a swim-through.

This is a young hogfish. When he gets older, the patch on his forehead will turn dark.

A pair of porkfish. They're brilliantly colored and though they like to hang around with grunts and goatfish, they're not nearly as numerous.

Look carefully. See the graysby?

This was one of my two favorite dives, because of the awesome scenery. This is elkhorn coral, a type that's becoming rare on Caribbean reefs.

A different type of barrel sponge. One of these days I'll get a coral identification book, too, and figure out what all these formations are named.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! SHARK!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, we were chasing them. They showed up wondering if we had food, but we only had those annoying flashy things, so it wasn't worth hanging around.

Same shark, different angle. Pretty sure he's watching me, if only to check if I've got something yummy other than said annoying flashy thing. He's not huge, but trust me--there's no such thing as a small shark!

Dinner! Most lobsters in the Caribbean don't have claws. Instead, they have whiplike antannae that they can give you a good slice if you get too close. And they're always in a bad mood for some reason...

Anyway, there's a lot more where those came from, including gator pictures from our Everglades tour in Miami. As soon as I can transfer them from hubby's laptop, I'll upload them here.

And if you've noticed that the first two backgrounds seem to have a similar color to the fish, you're not imagining things. I don't have a strobe yet, and the computer picture manager can only do so much for bringing out colors (especially as red is the first color to be washed out). Hopefully by the time we can go diving again, I'll be able to take properly colored pics without having to rely just on the flash (which is temperamental to say the least).
