The fire crackled low; the only sound in the dimly lit room. Daniel sat silently in the large armchair by the window, mulling over a seemingly simple hardback novel. The text inside was not English, but in fact an ancient language that only few could decipher. There was a muffled knocking of the door, and Daniel paused before snapping the book shut.
“Enter.” He commanded. The double doors of the study opened to reveal one of the servants, holding her head low as she held the door open for a man who briskly walked in. Fully tailored in the proper style of an aristocrat, yet clenching a cane and hat tightly in gloved hands, the man seemed to be in a hurry. He glanced around inquiringly, before leveling his dark eyes onto the man in front of him.
“Daniel. All of the highest ranking lords received your word…,” he frowned, serious. “You are too highly respected a noble to make a mistake in this, but I was sent here to England for the purpose of…'confirming’ your claim.”
“Really now,” Daniel replied, waving off the servant girl by the door so that their conversation was kept between them. “You should all have more faith in me, Aden.” He stood to his feet, walking over to the cabinet in the corner of the room. “Would you like some wine, my friend?”
Aden glared. “Don’t make light of this. Tell me where they are; you are already being looked down upon because of how long you waited to tell the rest of us. If I am not given proof after you suddenly sent word to every vampire lord on this earth-“Daniel held up his hand.
“Relax; I know how long I waited. It was done to ensure that I was indeed correct about my claim.” He took out a bottle of red wine and two glasses. “I am sure the other lords would have been far more upset if I had sent word as soon as the two arrived, only to later be proven wrong.”Aden stayed silent. “I waited six years, and they were worth it because I have more than enough proof that they are the two prophesied.”
“Well then, just where are they?” Aden asked. Daniel handed him a glass and gestured for him to sit in a chair beside his.
“Patience, Aden. You will see the boys soon enough. They are…out at the moment; I am letting them fully experience the thirst and their power. Once you all meet, I am sure you will be quite taken with them.” The corner of his mouth lifted in a smirk as he took a sip of wine.

“Charlotte, come in for bed now, it’s late!” A middle-aged mother stood in the doorway of her home, holding a glowing lamp high as she tried to peer into the darkness outside. Of all the times for her daughter’s wild spirit to flourish… “It is far too late to be playing these games with a child,” the woman muttered, grasping the material of her plain skirts so they wouldn’t drag.
“Charlotte!” she called again, walking down the path that lead away from their home. There was only so far her daughter could have gone; the village they lived in was very small and close knit. It was simple and peaceful, which was why she felt comfortable with letting her daughter play with the other children late into the evenings. She tended to be more rambunctious than a proper young lady should at times, but that was her child. Now if only she could find her-
The woman jumped as a twig snapped under her foot, nearly startling her into dropping the lamp. She yelped and clutched her chest, breathing out a sigh of relief once she realized. ‘A twig, really. Of all the sounds that occur out here I get startled…’ She trailed off, gazing around as she noticed that there were no other sounds at all. It was eerily quiet, and a shiver trailed up her spine as she grew fearful. “C-charlotte? Your mother is done playing this game, come out dear.” The statement barely made it out as more than a whisper.
Movement caught her eye up ahead suddenly, and the woman froze, turning towards it slowly. The familiar plain brown of a skirt caught her eye and visibly relaxed, sighing. “Child, if you won’t be the death of me…” she raised her lamp higher, stepping forward to hold out her hand…
Blood.
The woman gave out a cry and stumbled back, tripping and falling onto her rear. The lamp hit the ground beside her, cracking and dimming her source of light. Trembling hands rose up to cover her mouth, as she gazed into the two glowing eyes of crimson across from her; so close to her daughter’s neck that was so deathly pale if not for the blood that drenched it. The girl’s limp body hung in the darkness, hiding the captor who held her in its grasp. Her mother sat immobile, hot tears rolling down her cheeks as fear claimed her voice and those glowing eyes stared.
A beast. It was a beast! She’d foolishly let her daughter stay out too long and now she was claimed by this creature…those eyes… Charlotte’s body moved slightly forward, as the creature moved as well. Blood dripping. She could see horrid fangs digging into the neck, and the face those eyes belonged to…
A…young boy? The woman shook her head, crawling back in confusion. Her lips struggled to form words. “W-w-what…my Charlotte,” she sobbed, raising a hand out desperately. She couldn’t understand. What had this boy-creature done to her child, young as he looked? “W-what are you?” she sobbed, shivering and afraid to run. She couldn’t; her Charlotte-
The fanged mouth buried itself deeper, crushing the frail neck as it curved in a wicked grin. The glowing red of its eyes seemed to grow brighter with the crimson that gushed forth. There was a rustle off to the side, and for the first time, the woman was able to tear her eyes away to notice that something else had hold of her daughter’s arm, and a similar stain of red was seeping into the material of her sleeve. Haunting, blue eyes glowed as another young boy became visible; mouth stained with blood as he stared curiously at the woman.
She gave a frightened gasp and scrambled back further. Two of them! There were two of those horrid creatures! The second one turned his glowing hungry eyes onto the first.
“Brother, it’s another one. Do we feed from her too?” The elder brother released his fangs from the girl, running a tongue over the sharp incisors as he stared. He turned to his brother with a bloody smile.
“She’s here to play with us, Min.” he said. The woman’s breath caught. “You can have her first. This one might scream.” The corners of his lips curved, and the horror struck woman felt as though she were staring death in the face. The younger brother turned to her with an eager look, and she choked on her words as he stood and walked over slowly.
“N-no! P-please don’t!” the boy halted. “Please, I beg you--” he bared his fangs and leapt for her, slamming her to the ground with inhuman strength.
A bloodcurdling scream rose high above the surrounding treetops, cracking suddenly into a gurgle and dying altogether.
Jaejoong watched his younger brother maul and feed, feeling his body burn with the lust for blood. He dropped the now drained corpse, looking over in the direction he knew the rest of the village to be. Blood stained teeth flashed.

Dots of light rapidly appeared across the small gathering of houses, as many curious villagers lit lamps and stepped outside in wonder, afraid of what the awful scream that had sounded could mean. Within minutes there was another scream of horror, followed by another, and another. A fire broke out nearby. Pandemonium struck the small village, and before the night ended there was a chorus of screams serenading the moon.

The morning sun blazed brightly; its heat oddly unrelenting so early in the day. A noble’s carriage rolled down a dirt road at a smooth pace, as its destination was not so far away. The driver wiped a bit of sweat off his brow, silently cursing his job as he sat suffering while the lords inside did not.
“Daniel, I cannot believe a high lord such as you would risk leaving two of the things most important to our kind out here till daybreak. They are only young vampires!” Aden insisted angrily; his silver hair was pulled back in aristocratic fashion, and he held his cane tightly in his hand, nearly crushing it.
The lord beside him knew better. Aden was eager to meet them. As eager as he’d been when he’d first felt the twins’ dual presence. “Aden, if such words were heard by the high council, you’d have your tongue removed.” He ignored the glare. “’Only young vampires’? That is where you are wrong, dear friend. They do not disappoint the prophecy in any way. I assure you that they are fine.” He closed his eyes and rested in the lavish carriage; his face holding a small look of discomfort. As strong a lord he may have been, any vampire had trouble with the sun. The weakest could barely get by with the right kind of cloak, and even the strongest felt the drain in broad daylight, like a heavy weight on their shoulders.
Aden gave a vague sound, feeling the same drain his fellow vampire did. He turned towards the carriage window, finding no ease or comfort in the plain rolling hills and simple flowers dotting the countryside. ‘Humans and their pathetic communities…any lord would do well to put up an estate out here…’ A sudden scent assaulted his nose, and narrowed his eyes. ‘Blood?’ He turned to Daniel, who raised a hand without looking.
“I smell it as well. We seem to be near our stop.” He opened his eyes. “Driver.”
The carriage halted immediately. Daniel and Aden stepped out once the servant opened the door, holding a parasol. The viscount took hold of the parasol, taking it from the man who looked a bit confused. “We’ll be going alone. Stay with the carriage until we return.” He ordered. The servant nodded. The pair walked off, sharing the space of the large parasol. Noticing Aden’s suspicious look of the servant behind them, he smiled. “He is a mute who cannot read nor write. It is best to have him for simple things such as this.”
They walked down a grassy path, turning past a large coverage of trees and onto a seemingly open plain. Aden had asked no questions as the smell of blood and ashes grew stronger; once they had come upon the small valley spread out from them, he had his answer.
Whatever the small village had looked like before, it was impossible to tell now. What had once been houses were now piles of splintered wood and ashes. Animals, men, women, and children alike were littered across the ground, some in pieces. There was little blood spilt, despite the carnage. The forms were torn and pale, with permanent looks of horror etched onto their faces. Aden was enthralled by the sight. ‘By themselves alone…they must truly be…’
The sounds of laughter reached his ears. The elder vampires turned at the sound, spotting two small figures running about nearby in a field. Daniel gave a pleased chuckle. “Ah yes,” he called in a risen voice, catching the attention of the young twins. “One cannot have a slaughter without laughter to accompany it. There is but one letter to give it a difference, after all.” Eyeing Aden curiously out of the corner of his eye, he smirked and gestured with the parasol. “Come and meet the two who you’ve been waiting to meet, Aden.”
Aden stepped forward, speechless as the two young vampires ran up to them. Jaejoong stepped easily around the tall grass and weeds, holding his brother by the hand as they made their way. The two made quite the pair, with small specks of blood splattered on their faces and stained shirts and hands. Dark raven hair fell neatly into Jaejoong’s eyes as he looked up (giving a momentary glance at the new stranger) at Daniel.
“Are we leaving already? We were having fun,” he insisted, with Changmin nodding behind him. Daniel gave them both a once over with his eyes. It wasn’t as prominent in the daylight, but he could see the glow in both of their eyes. Their bodies were tensed and eager, full of the energy and power they’d consumed from feeding. They were experiencing the high; he could see the feral look of excitement poised behind Jaejoong’s eyes, even as the sun shone brightly above them.
Daniel laughed, crouching down until he met their height. He reached out and rubbed a smudge of blood from Changmin’s mouth. “You two have drained an entire village. I have no doubt that you were enjoying it.” He rose. “Now, it’s time for us to return to the manor. You have lessons to take and etiquette to learn. The amount of humans you fed on was more than enough to sustain the average vampire. It is more than you needed, but for someone who has not learned the depths of the thirst; it is hard to know when to quit. The thirst is something that can never be fully quenched, understand?” Aden watched the two as they nodded.
They weren't simple minded boys. They may have been listening intently to every word Daniel spoke to them, but he could see the looks in both of their eyes. Calculating and analyzing every bit of information to judge for themselves...
“Good, now come along boys.” Daniel glanced back at the other vampire. “There is someone who wants to meet you...”

“They are absolutely marvelous, Daniel,” Aden gushed, speaking in a low whisper as they stood out in the hallway. “After all the false rumors within every nation, I was doubtful of your claim. There have been so many frequent mistakes thought to be true in the past, but this…” he and the vampire lord glanced inside the music parlor, where the twins were.
Changmin sat at the grand piano; small fingers gracefully trailing across the keys as he toyed with an elaborate piece. Jaejoong sat beside him, commenting on how well he played and causing a proud smile to spread across the younger one’s face. Not a trace of the previous nights events were visible; their clothes new and their faces completely clean. The elder brother watched his twin with a gentle smile and half lidded, obsidian eyes, no longer wild with the lust for blood.
“Changmin will be a formidable lord, I can tell. His intellect and insight are astounding. Jaejoong is simply breathtaking, with an intense ferocity and beauty worthy of Akasha’s name.” Aden shook his head in disbelief. “It is overwhelming to see the prophecy unraveling right before my eyes.”
Daniel grasped his shoulder, smiling confidently. “Just think, Aden, a world where even the sun is blotted out by a blood red moon. These two shall turn it into reality.” The other male nodded. “Return word to the other lords at once; the pureblooded have returned to us.”Aden gave another nod, and bowed before turning and taking his leave.
The viscount watched him leave with a look of satisfaction, and went back inside the music parlor to set up the boy’s tutoring.
It was time for him to raise lords.

The night air swept coolly across the temple steps; a hooded and cloaked figure stood stoically at the top and stared out at the dark horizon. It was quite dark, as the moon shed no gentle light here. Only the sun greeted this ancient temple with warm kindness. He said nothing, and made no movement for hours, until another cloaked figure approached his side.
Pausing momentarily to give a short bow of respect, he turned to face the horizon as well. “…Soonjin-sama...what is it that worries you so? You should not be out here like this, your strength--”
“Silence your tongue,” the man spoke, his voice light yet commanding. The other grew silent. “I fear…that I have failed my task this time around.”
The young man beside him jerked, revealing his surprise. “Master, how is that possible? None of the other elders felt--"
“Do you doubt me?” he questioned gruffly. The other shook his head and he sighed. “Kangta, if I am right and the Hunters have failed their task of finding the two prophesied and preventing their birth into this world, then the innocent are at great risk.” The weathered hand gripped the cane in his hand tightly. “We do not have much time.” He rasped.
Kangta touched his shoulder gently. “Soonjin-sama…”
“We Hunters are not immortal as they are, Kangta. We cannot even be called human any longer, but we are still just as mortal. It is already a wonder that I am the longest living Hunter; nearly five-hundred. We barely reach three hundred before our bodies begin to wither, and yet I am still here. I do not know how long I will last, and with what time I have left I must find and train all of the potential hunters out there. We need to be ready.” He took a deep breath to steady himself. His apprentice looked at him worriedly.
“But Master, why do you fear that you’ve failed? We’ve had an advantage over the Vampires for years. You chose the woman in your vision, and saw to it that the two died before they could be born with your own eyes. How could you be wro--”
A worn and tired face turned to him abruptly, revealing two milky white eyes that focused on him. “Did I?” The young apprentice’s eyes grew wide in shock. Soonjin gazed at him sadly. “My sight has grown dim, Kangta.” He turned back to the dark horizon, gazing deeply into it as if he could sense the darkening future.
“We must find and train those who will take our place, before time runs out.”
