These thoughts aren't as happy as I thought they'd be.

For all this was tweeted up as the Kurt Episode, it was really The Blaine Episode, and Also Straight Romance Nonsense. Blaine was the one really doing reassessing of himself in this episode, trying to fill his time up with new identities, being in a superhero sidekick club (Kurt's obviously the superhero), trying to find a way to fill his time. (But um... last year was not all about the seniors. Blaine was the lead in the play, and a tv special, and got some solos himself at two competitions.) This is his Brittany 2.0... working his way through the disorientation of his other half being GONE. (Though Brittany has space here too, because she's giving way her presidential title and growing closer to Sam.)

I have to say that Blaine's first voiceover made me squee a lot. Especially the amount of dorkery that ia Blainers. The song was kind of bland, but still smooth and well done. I was also squeeing at his continued outrage over OPPRESSUN of not being able to wear hair gel. He was pretty adorkable in this episode. I was drawing hearts over his face during his speech with my fingers in the air.

Still, um, an extra strength Vitamin DUH for Blaine. Yes, you came to McKinley for Kurt. Then you told him to go to New York. DUH you miss him. Skyping isn't the same, but they are both trying. There are obviously some problems, though, outside of Blaine finally realizing that he changed schools for his boyfriend, and missing each other. These are communication problems. And they need to work these out, or just both be unsatisfied. Specifically, Kurt has mentioned being passive aggressive... but he's terrible at it. He (usually) tells you exactly how he feels about things and expects that the direct communication will have results (though maybe the communication isn't as direct to the person he's talking to. Blaine DOES do passive aggressive, as an unfortunate extension of being a people pleaser and conflict avoider with a temper, but that means his desires go unfulfilled, build up. Both get wrapped up in their own problems and miss what the other is asking of them, especially when they are out of synch (like now). Both are perfectly capable of shifting into victim stance when fighting (Blaine is better at pulling fighting dirty when he has to, but probably doesn't mean it... Kurt is far better at throwing shade with a smile on his face).

I just want to encounter as little villainization of either guy as possible. (And I will fight you to the death if you trash on Kurt in here.) In short, I think Klaine are gonna end up fighting about what Klaine always fight about. Support and communication, because they are teenagers. At least Blaine hasn't already met and begun cuddling up to his next boyfriend. (Brittana = doomed, Finchel = gag)

I wish I had more to say about Kurt and Isabelle. He was adorable the entire time, and his voiceover made me sad. And we all know how NYADA went. But that hippo broach gets him places. Isabelle had decided she wanted him there before he even came in for the interview. Given how hard Kurt usually has to work just to get a bit part or right to try anything, it almost felt anti-climatic. And it feels wrong for her to encourage him to give up his dreams to follow hers. Broadway is STILL there. Will we see Kurt really take a shine to it? Will we see him decide he doesn't want NYADA afterall? Or will he work at his, dream big, and ultimately go out for parts himself without NYADA's nonsense?

Isabelle is really... needy, though. She's the opposite of Devil Wears Prada. In some ways, she might fill the gap where Kurt's father, Rachel, and Blaine go by giving him a mess to take care of (Mercedes grew out of it). He usually has a variety of people in his life to take care of, but maybe she's enough that he won't need anything else (or get tired of it0. It's his default mode: Struggle like hell for what you want/take care of other people's needs until they love you. He's also not used to this much reward for so easily.

This looks like a happy set up for the time being that's going to topple eventually... or be revealed to not work out... I feel so negative saying this. I was having big hopes that Isabelle would be a great mentor for him and appreciate his talent... maybe she does. I'm conflicted.

I saw the 'online resume' that Fox put up, and aside from the pictures, they should be fired. Kurt should have a lot more on his resume:

Brochel = boring vomit. TOO MUCH OF IT. (I'm not sure what Finn expects, breaking things off with her and then not communicating for months, but how Fincel of them for him to show up when she's on her first date.)

I don't know. I think if I were Kurt, I would get tired of Rachel whining about all of her problems at her dream school. Instead, he's all, yay! Makeover time!

Brittam = eh. More storyline for Brittany is okay... I guess? I would rather know what's going on with Tina and why she seems to have skipped most of this week of school.

Blam! = Yes, Blaine needs friends who don't just define him as Kurt's boyfriend. Though it would be awesome if Sam's broish approval didn't hinge on Blaine's ability to pass. I don't know that this should endear Blaine to Sam, especially since the other guys' effemiphobia seems to have rubbed off on Sam, when he was the first to treat Kurt as no big deal. Hey, Blaine, be friends with Tina and Unique instead. Or maybe Puck 2.0.

Will = PLEASE LEAVE. Will this give us more Senor Martinez or Holly to sub when he buggers off?

Favorite songs:
Celebrity Skin = It just sounded really, really good. The staging of it was well done.
The Way You Look Tonight/Never Fully Dressed = Lovely and symbolic. Kurt and Isabelle dancing together... obviously, CC and SJP are enamored of each other, so at least their scenes will be fun. For whatever her problems, Isabelle seems to really support Kurt.
