I'm glad you let the characters have their feel, because god this is such an awesome situation. Santana's outburst of Blaine having everything is such a great little encapsulation of grief - yes, Blaine has some family left alive (currently), but then again, he and Kurt had to survive on their own in zombieland and then his brother and sister tried to kill everyone and his husband and brother basically went at each other.
But god, poor Santana. She and Brittany were really good for each other and this is just heart wrenching.
And Kurt and Blaine just curling up together at the end was sweet.
Sometimes the characters just want you to slow down and focus on THEIR stuff. They don't care about timetables that you may have!!
Thank you. And yeah, Blaine's situation here is kind of precarious. Everyone he loves, practically, is hurt or sick, and his brother and sister have a question mark over them. Santana's outburst was inevitable, but the timing with Blaine was not so good.
I'm selfishly glad the characters had too many feels for you to advance the plot because this was very good to read. Letting Santana have her angry violent catharsis and Kurt do what he can to keep Blaine tethered to reality and all that.
I especially like your rage-y Santana because there is a core of such deep hurting that you never forget about and want to fix, but it's an impossible task. And with Brittany gone, that's even more true.
Hee. Thank you. And Santana so needed to rage some, openly. She would have done it whether I focused the chapter on people's hurting or not, but I'm glad this worked out.
I really loved this update. Sometimes it's awesome to just have a characters-and-their-feels centric chapter or two. And there are definitely enough feels to go around at the moment!! I feel for Santana especially when she points out all the things Blaine has managed to hold on to but it's not like it's been easy for him at all. And I'm sure she knows that, but she's understandably not in much of a state to acknowledge it.
Hopefully Kurt gets back on his feet and back to being hbic sooner rather than later!
Very true, and it's kind of the core of how I set out writing this story, one feel at a time! And yes, Santana rationally would recognize that Blaine has been through a lot, and chance has screwed her and kept his loved ones around (for now) but she's not thinking very clearly at all.
As soon as he can. This all happened within the space of a day, so I need to let him mend, or get him a blood donor.
This was totally needed, for Santana to get all her anger and misery out (even if it meant taking it out on a few people first.) I know she's far from done, but when she started screaming at Blaine about how he gets "everything" and she has nothing left....I teared up! :( Can't blame her for seeing it that way!
Yeah, in that moment, it was just too much for her to handle rationally. When she calms, she'll recognize the shot husband, stabbed brother, sick sister...

Kurt can always fix Blaine, and he knows it.
