I forgot to mention amongst my whinging that I'm at a conference this week. Not the fun kind of con where you meet actors and things, but the kind where you get drunk at night and be a professional academic-y person during the day.
I'm currently sitting in a Caribou Coffee having breakfast with my illustrious teammates. Because expensive hotels, the ones that host conferences, are cheap ass bastards. I hate them, Internet. Lower cost hotels, like ECONOLODGE will give you internet in your rooms, free of charge. Smancy hotels have to squeeze whatever dollars they can get out of you, by not giving you internet, paying $16 for eggs, and guilting you about washing the sheets daily (don't mind the last one, as much).
What have we done? We've gone to some interesting (and some frustrating) sessions. We finished our presentation. We went to the slowest Italian restaurant in the world (that had some very weird caprese and garlic and olive oil, but was otherwise okay). Then last night we went to an Afgan restaurant, and I tell you, this was one of the best meals I've had in ages. Hands down. It was amaaaazing. Expensive, but comparable for downtown.
So, signing off, Internets. I'll see you when I can. :D
