Few things. First, I don’t typically do recaps on my blog, but the last weekend I think is one that should be documented, I promise I’ll be brief. For those of you familiar with my recap skills from the message board, this will probably be a bit more detailed, but I’ll put a “brief” version at the end. Feel free to skip to it directly if that’s all you are interested in. I promise I won’t be offended. Mostly because I won’t know the difference.
Second, my computer has been having heart attacks again. I don’t know what’s up. My virus scan isn’t picking up anything, but something is wrong. I don’t feel like spending the buttload of cash to take it to the Geek Squad just for them to tell me something is wrong, so for now we’re using the computer as little as possible. So I’m typing this in Word at work and copy/pasting it into LJ to save computer time.
Recap:
Wednesday, 17: This was my first day off from work. I leaned a while ago that it was a smart idea to take a few days off during finals week to preserve some sanity. Since all my papers were due the week before and I only had two finals to study for, I felt a little guilty for taking the time off, but it turned out to be perfect. I spent most the day studying for that night’s final, went to the school, took the amazingly easy final. I was so grateful it was easy. The teacher knew that the paper was a lot of work so he purposefully made the final easy. Afterwards I was able to talk to the teacher some more. I really enjoyed Dr. Lewin’s class. And through several conversations with him I have a better idea of what I want to do for grad school. I’m hoping he’ll write me a letter of recommendation for grad school. I was totally stoked to pull off an A in his class. It was by far one of the toughest classes I’ve taken and really challenged me on a different level than most of my other classes. I got the feeling it was a good preview of what grad school will be like.
Thursday, 18: I needed to study more for this night’s final, but my mom talked me into getting a pedicure. Darn, that was tough. Afterwards I ran a few errands for the party. I also was able to get my hair died and trimmed at an actual hair salon. That may not seem like much, but I RARELY go to an actual salon. Especially since my SIL does hair and will usually do it for free. But she was sick and my mom offered to pay, so there you go. J I then finally went home and studied. I didn’t study as much as I could have, but frankly I didn’t care. I ended up with a B in this class. Kinda bummed, but it was Bio Psych, and honestly I’m not all that down with Biology crap, and the with senioritis I had this quarter, I’m fine with a B. I actually enjoyed the teacher and the class, and I know I could have put forth more of an effort, but I’m not crying over it either. I’ll add here, that I also got an A in my online French Literature class. That class was a lot of fun and a nice change of pace from all the psych classes. After class that night Chris took me to BJ’s for drinks and a Pazookie to celebrate being all done. We had a good time just hanging out and talking.
Friday, 19: This day was pretty much all spent running around with my mom getting stuff ready for the party. Good, but long day. Not much else to say about it. Oh, I did stay up until almost midnight cleaning my house too.
Saturday, 20: More cleaning, organizing, setting up. Found time to get my nails done, pick up a few last things and take a shower. About 25 people showed up, which I think was a good turnout. Chris was a BBQing fiend; I drank lots of wine and talked to people. I felt like I didn’t get around as much as I should have, but I had a good time. Because of the computer not working, I couldn’t create a playlist for the party, which bummed me out and I somehow lost my speakers for my iPod anyway, so we just had the radio playing. Blah. My mom got an awesome cake from the same place that did our wedding cake. About 10pm most of everyone had left and Chris and I were wiped out, and pretty drunk.
Sunday, 21, I had to get up kind of early to get to the school. Graduation was at nine, I had to be there by eight. I got in line with my department. I met up with school friend Chris. We walked into the arena; I was surprised that I found my family pretty fast. Text messaging helped a lot. I was texting and twittering pretty much the whole time. Finally I got my degree holder. The whole ceremony was little over three hours long. Afterwards, we decided that instead of fighting the Father’s Day/Graduation crowds we would just go back to our house and have the party leftovers. Which worked out good because we were able to get rid of a lot of the leftovers. After everyone left, I took the first nap I’ve taken in who knows how long. I kept feeling guilty that I had homework to do though. Than Chris and I relaxed, cleaned up a little, watched TV.
Monday, 22: I turned 30. We had gone with a friend to Disneyland for her birthday a few weeks ago, so we had the 2-fer tickets and had to go back to CA Adventure by the end of the month. Chris took the day off so we could go on my birthday. I wasn’t gonna register my birthday because I figured it wouldn’t count since I had a ticket for CA Adventure already. But thanks to a tip that they would give me a GC the value of the ticket into Disneyland instead if I already had a ticket, I did. And sure enough they gave me the CG. We got a late start to get there and got about half way before I realized I forgot the tickets and we had to turn around. It was all good though. CA Adventure is fun, but they don’t have as many “must go on” rides, so we just took our time. We ate at a place in Downtown Disney I can’t remember the name of. But their food was REALLY good. We did some shopping so I could spend the CG and went home and collapsed. Tuesday it was back to work.
That’s pretty much it. I’ll put a link up for pics as soon as I get them together. I have more blog posts that I want to write as soon as I figure out what the heck I’m doing with my free time.
