We were married around 4:00 on Monday afternoon, after waiting for the judge alongside a bunch of baby gangsters waiting for their court appearances, haha. The ceremony took like 2 minutes, and I couldn't get Michael's ring on so I held onto his finger the whole time, which he thought was hilarious. It sounds silly, but I got a little choked up when the judge asked Michael to repeat the vows! We both laughed when he said "for rich or for poor" though.

After we left the courthouse we had dinner in Humble to try and beat the traffic, then went to Onion Creek with Tim and Sarah for drinks (well, they had dinner, I had tea, Michael had a beer). We got to Galveston around 9, and the first thing we saw coming in was stacks of boats along the side of the road! When we checked in they told us they only had a room with two double beds available, to which I replied "but I made a reservation", which apparently didn't matter. So I told her it was our wedding night, and she got all flustered and promised us a big bed with an incredible view for our second night. I didn't push it, but I probably could have got more out of her, like at least a bottle of champagne in our room, haha. But we were tired and just wanted to get to any room. The view in the first room was good, but the second room had two windows overlooking the ocean, and one of the windows actually opened so we could smell the air and hear the waves!

On Tuesday morning we had the best breakfast of our lives in the hotel, I swear. It was soooo nice, and we sat there for more than an hour. After breakfast we went for a walk on the beach. We saw some more destruction, but the worst of it was in downtown, like the Strand. The piers were generally ok though, and the tall ship Elissa still stood.

On Tuesday night we got pulled over looking for dinner. The cops were bugging everyone though. There was still a curfew in some places. We found a pizza place that was still open (our fault for waiting to eat until almost 10) and had it back in our second hotel room, which we had moved to that afternoon. We slept with the window open, which was amazing.

On Wednesday afternoon we headed home, stopping in Houston for lunch. It was all so relaxing and nice, we both really needed it.

The Hotel Galvez. Our (second) room is to the left of the fire escape door on the right side of the photo.

The view from our first room, right after the sun came up!

Hotel room #1.

Hotel room #2. Much better! It had a couch and two windows, as well as...

A glass bathroom door! Ahhhh!

View from the fire escape as we were leaving.

The Seawall. Some destruction in the distance. That hotel had a huge hole in the wall!
