not much is really happening on this end. nothing exciting or anything like that. this is just a general post for a few observations and a few comments. you know... crap you probably won't be interested in.
i suppose the first thing is that the leaves are actually turning colors and falling off the trees. now. in November. not in February, when we have a week of super cold weather. i swear to the gods that's what happened last year. the leaves all fell in February when we had a cold snap. a week later, the trees were already budding out with the new spring coat. seriously. i hated it.
but there are golds and reds in my back yard right now. and one tree... it had a full coat of leaves on Monday. all a yellow that changed color with the different lights. when the sun hit it, it was a bright yellow. when it got a little darker, it was a golden yellow. when i looked at them again on Tuesday, i swear half of the leaves had fallen off the damned tree. the yard is littered with them. then there's a nice, dark bloody red on some of the other trees. so pretty. and with the nip in the air (well, some days. we've been fluctuating between 80 and 30 here this past week or so), its actually starting to feel like fall. wow. color me mildly impressed.
but this also makes me think we'll have an icky winter. we'll have to see on that.
getting ready for my annual baking run. i'm trying to cull the list some so i don't spend all my time in the kitchen, though this isn't a big deal now that i've got two working sinks again. (woo! woo? one of them. take your pick) i need to sit down with my recipes and see what i'm going to need to bake with. it helps that i made a list after i baked last year.
took spawn to the game shop today and one guy was out, already putting his Christmas lights and decorations up outside. ok. Thanksgiving is next week. but still... wait until the day after. that's usually what i do.
been writing like a mad woman on the latest branch of the MSV, The Mary Sue Virus: Lights, Camera, Avengers!. this one is set in the movieverse and... yeah. brain is going like crazy on it. i'm doing my best to get it written and done. and it seems to more or less be flowing right off the fingertips. another ten or so chapters should see it done. should being the operative word in that sentence. we'll have to see as we get closer to the big event.
also been plotting with Daz on a piece that should prove interesting. we're still hammering out details. i think it will be good once its done. but for now... i think i'll keep it between her and i. this might be one of those that i write completely, then post in its entirety. we'll see.
then there's the song that i'm presently hooked on. this one is stirring up bunnies for the MSV that will be thrown in later. when all the Big StuffTM happens. they're really cool bunnies, too. however, on the less pleasant side, the song is stirring up some black bunnies wearing miniature Stetsons and... i really don't know if i want to go there. but damn it. it could be fun.
,,,couldn't it?
and finally, its that time of year again. you all know what i'm talking about. its time for the Gift Fic Exchange. i made my post for it before Halloween, but some of you may have missed it. i'll link you to it here in a bit. but you all know how it works. give me a few bits of information and i'll do my best to write you a bitching little fic for the hols. i don't expect a fic in return. this is just my way of saying Merry Christmas/Blessed Solstice/Happy Fucking Holidays. whatever works best for you. most of you have already done this a time or two and know what's expected. but this is open to anyone on my f-list. all i ask is you make sure that the request is made for a fandom and characters i know and am comfortable with.
please. no matter what you might think, i'm not capable of writing EVERYTHING. really. i'm not.
if you want to request a fic from me, you can find the post with all the pertinent information here:
The 2011 Holiday Fic Exchange i look forward to seeing what you all can come up with.
