random stuff

this is mostly just a quick update to let you guys know what's been going on over here. this week has been pretty quiet for me. instead of stabbing myself in the eye with a pencil when i couldn't find something to make by brain go vroom, i've divided my time between loading fic up on my Dreamwidth account and simply reading books.

wow. i'd honestly forgotten how much i love to lay in bed with a book in my hands and just let myself go. get lost in someone else's world. thanks to the generosity of some good friends, and my parental unti, too, i've collected a dozen new books or so in the past few months, so i've read about two dozen books since January. its kind of a paltry amount, but i've been doing some rereading to get caught up on series before reading the new one.

i've discovered a new love for Loki thanks to Rob Thurman and her Trickster series. two of those books were so not enough and i can not wait for the next one, though i think it'll be at least next year before it comes out. plus she finally got the first book she wrote published and i got that, so that got gobbled up, too. i still have the last two Cal Leandros books waiting for me in my TBR pile. there was the Black London series by Caitlin Kittredge. the Dark Days series by Jocelynn Drake, two of which i won off a contest she held back before Christmas. when i realized that i'd won books 4 and 5 and i only had 1 and 2, my lovely mommy bought me 3 so that i didn't have to wait. she also got me book 1 through 6 in the "How to Train Your Dragon" series. yes. kids books. but i loved the movie so much that i wanted to read the books. different from the movie, but not bad. they're actually quite fun and the author, Cressida Cowell, actually drew all of the illustrations used in the books. and then i moved on to the Kate Daniels series. i read books 1 through 4 there.

of course, you know what this all means. i cannot possibly read a series without finding at least one of the men appealing. *headdesk* yes. its happened again. Jack Winter out of the Black London series and Curran from the Kate Daniels series. Jack's a mage. Curran is a shapeshifter and the Beast Lord. neither one is necessarily... nice. wow. shocker, right?

and speaking of books, Jocelynn Drake held another contest because the last book in her Dark Days series dropped this past Tuesday. all one had to do was leave a comment. so... that'll make three signed copies from that series from her. see? look. there's proof!

on the fic front, i finally decided to use my Dreamwidth account as a kind of backup. all of my fic will eventually go there. so far, i've put up most of my Potter fic. i think i'm only missing three or four of them. i've been making a list of all the links as i go along so that when i'm done, i can create fic indexes there. i may or may not make a master fic list and post there. we'll have to see. of course, i've got one done here. sort of. i don't know.

i've also got almost all of my Anita Blake fic there. all of the chapters of Beyond Death have been posted. with indexes that i've made for the multi-chaptered fics, i've made 170+ fic posts there. then i had the brilliant fucking idea that i should clean up my tags list. which wasn't hard because i didn't really have many. i went with the style of tags used on the MSV comm and on le sueniverse. i really like those alot and they make sense to me. of course, i had to be anal. everything has a category to it. and i've been spending time going back, skimming the chapters and posting the proper character tags. i'm not finished, but you can get a look at it by clicking the following link:
Devilish Delights

my next task might actually be doing the tags here in LJ. that should be loads of fucking fun. i've only got over 200 of them and i know me. i'll be anal enough to go back and fiddle with them once i'm done.

we'll see about that, too.

that's about it for now. not much else to report, really. i should go do something constructive, shouldn't i?
