I love it when they suddenly open up and want to make that connection. I'm glad you were in a place where you could hit PAUSE and take the time to hear him. So many parents are too busy, or would think that the tv show was more important than a kid that should be in bed ( ... )

Joan, me too!

Yeah, I remember starting high school we watched this video called "The best years of your life. . .so far." which actually had a more realistic take on teen years. The most developmental years, yes. Memorable? Sure. Best? I wouldn't repeat them for the world, and I had a pretty ok teenhood.

M has been talking to me more now that he is 18, but it feels like we hadn't had a real conversation since he hit puberty.

Enjoy this. I'm glad you stop and listen. You're a great mom.

I spend a lot of time accidentally embarassing Ethan, too. And yelling at him, and insisting he do things that make him unhappy, I just don't post about those! ;-)

I KNOW we are going to have more stormy times ahead.(Have I mentioned how stupid I think it is that the brain matures so much slower than the body?? Yes, yes I have.)
