So, I brought the gray kitten home over the weekend. He is a real cuddlebug! (He's also one hell of a climber. If I'm standing up, he will start at my foot and make it all the way to my shoulder.) He's very social, too, which is good

I suspect the reason that Mollie gets upset when picked up after you have been petting the little one is that she doesn't want his scent on her. Consider washing your hands and then trying?

I did try that; no difference. And it wasn't necessarily when I had held him, just when she had seen him.

Try petting Molly a lot, then petting the little one; her smell on him might make things a little easier.
