Introducing...
Kenpachi!
But we mostly call him Kenny or Ken-chan.
He joined us this past Friday as the newest member of our family! He will be 9 months old on the 1st; he was born on April Fool's Day, which I think contributes to his mischievous spirit. ^_^ He weighs about 11lbs (approx. 5kg,) so he's a pretty good sized boy as it is, and I imagine he's not done growing yet, so he'll probably get a bit bigger. He's almost completely black, except for a few white hairs on his chest and tail, and one small white spot on the back part of his stomach. The vet said that he looks sort of Egyptian, and I think he probably has some kind of Asian breed in his heritage. He does have quite a long muzzle and large ears, and his fur is also quite short and thin, which make him look a bit more exotic than most domestic short haired cats.
He's been very good so far, considering he'd never been in a house before and had never been away from the shelter either. He doesn't like being alone at all, which is understandable, but right now he has to stay in one of the spare bedrooms by himself, so we can ease Baby and Cleo into the fact that he's here now. Baby and Cleo have seen him, though, and they pretty much hiss and growl and run away, while he just stands there watching them with a slightly puzzled look. I know it will take some time, but I'm sure they'll come to tolerate him eventually. One thing that surprised us, though, is his crying; I was pretty sure he would cry, but because of his size and age I expected a cry like Baby's which is very loud and obnoxious, but instead Kenny sounds like a tiny kitten mewling. It's weird to hear that tiny sound come out of him, and it's very hard to ignore. I also think it's confusing for Baby and Cleo because when they hear him cry they expect a kitten, but then they see him and they're like WTF? XD
I'm so glad Kenny is home with us now, and I'm sure we'll have lots of fun and interesting times ahead with him. ^_^ I'll try not to bore my f-list with too many posts about him, but do expect a few kitty pic spams!
