A Smattering of Something Doctor Who

Mar 24, 2010 02:05

I'm a little bit sun-drunk right now. I found myself stretched out on the sidewalk yesterday soaking in the rays... and, I miss writing Doctor Who stuff for fun, so here's a little something for those who might miss my previous obsessive nature towards Doctor/Rose.

Title: The Sun For All the Rain
Author: ladychi
Characters/Pairings: Ten/Rose
Rating: Mild adult, if there is such a thing.
Summary: A spring afternoon with the Doctor and Rose

The late afternoon sun is glorious. They're somewhere a bit like Earth, but not quite Earth, and the TARDIS is parked in a field. It smells wonderful -- wheaty and moist and alive... good Earth pushing life up through its very roots. All over, spring's beginning to make itself known and when Rose is looking, she can see the green poking up through all of the brown.

The Doctor links his thumb through her belt-loop and grins at her. "Any second now, it's going to be a pollen explosion here," he says. "Sneezing, moaning, whining about headaches and what have you..."

"Yeah, but it's beautiful," Rose says. "I could stretch out like a cat right here, I could."

"Right here?" The Doctor raises his eyebrows at her, so much so that they seem to disappear into his hairline. "Be a bit uncomfortable. Those are corn stalks, Rose. Not a fun bedding choice, if I do say so myself."

"No, I'd just find a patch of grass and soak it all in," Rose says, lifting her face. "It's wonderful."

The Doctor tugs her closer to him and she links her arm around his waist. "Been rainy everywhere we went lately, hasn't it?"

"Just a bit. Not sure this sun would feel so nice if it weren't for all the rain, though," Rose says, shrugging her shoulders.

The Doctor's eyes go bright and sad at the same time -- the way only the Doctor's can. "Yeah." He squeezes her hand. "You're right."
