Wow, it's been a while...
Oh wait, I have a livejournal? Oh yeah, this thing. Anyway, I haven't written much because I'm just not the sort to comment on every aspect of my life online, but a couple things for those of you who are interested.
First, I've been spending a bit of time with the good people at phanwank making fun of PotO related absurdity. Lately I've been giving the MST3K treatment to a horrid Phantom/Doctor Who crossover...I may include some of my rantings on my memories page.
Second, and the real reason why I'm coming back to this: as you can tell from my info page, this journal was created specifically for the purpose of creating an "alternative" screenplay to ALW's PotO. While I don't normally return to my writing once I've posted it, a recent development has had me turning back: the premiere of "Phantom: The Vegas Spectacular" at the Venietian. There has been a lot of discussion about the changes made for the 90-minute show, but the one that intrigues me the most is the Final Lair: instead of being trapped by the Phantom's Punjab lasso, Raoul finds himself locked in an iron-maiden style cage and suspended above the stage. At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about the change (Wishbone, anybody?) but the more I thought about it, the more I liked it--and the more I thought the concept would play well on film.
So, to make a long story short (too late!), I'm going to be doing some modifications to the screenplay in the near future. Watch this space for updates.
