Finished "Notes/Prima Donna" today, easily the most difficult scene to work thus far--if only because of all the characters being in play. Actually ended up cutting less than I thought I would (when all's said and done, the scene actually flows fairly fast)--but there's still quite a bit that wound up trimmed. Perhaps most significantly, Piangi is no longer in the scene, because a) I worked primarily from the Perry/OLC libretto, which doesn't include him and b) he really doesn't do much in the scene other than agree with everything Carlotta says. The counterpoint part of "Notes" was shortened, and some individual lines in "Prima Donna" were removed. The result (hopefully!) is a montage in the "Tonight"/"One Day More"/"Along Came Bialy" mode.
Look for another excerpt to be posted on Tuesday...a treat for those of us NOT looking forward to the DVD release.
