Popping in to say "Happy New Year's!" to everyone! Not that anyone knows me yet, but I guess parties are a great way to meet people. Speaking of parties, it's only 8:21pm here, and I'm off to a RL party. Then Rose Parade in the morning, woohoo! So I hope you all have a great time, and I'm sorry I can't stay longer!
So you were at the Rose Parade? Fun! Do you go often? When did you get there this morning?
This was only my second year seeing it live. I went last year and had a blast, and so decided to go again this year with the same group. We got there around 5 in the morning, and since all of us had had so little sleep, we were a lot more tired than the year before. So we spent the time before the parade mostly sleeping/trying to sleep rather than hanging out. But it was still so much fun, and I loved the parade!
You went in person?? Wow, how was that? Were you able to see anything, or was it too crowded? I'd have been worried about that. I wish I could have seen it live...but just tried to watch it on TV but the channel didn't come in clearly enough :( Checking out some photos of floats online, though. The creativity involved amazes me!
We did go in person! And I assumed that's what you meant when you said you'd be joining me, but looking back at my previous comment, there was nothing in that to indicate whether I was seeing it in person or on TV.
Anyway, it was great. We didn't get to see the Rose Parade Kickoff, as we were farther down along the route, but we saw everything else. While there were a ton of people there, we had spots right on the curb, with only one group of people on the street in front of us. Our place wasn't bad considering we'd gotten there at 5 in the morning instead of some time the night before as the people in front of us had! Actually, last year we arrived around the same time and got a great spot as well. The parade was absolutely amazing. You should come down and see it live sometime; it's definitely worth it! You don't get all the commentary like you do on the TV, but it's still really great, especially since my family doesn't get great TV reception.
Well, someday I would love to go in person! What was your favorite float? They get very intricate and detailed with the floats - I wonder how long it takes to design one? Hope the New Year is treating you well so far :)
