"I -- uh -- that is -- "
Rodney gulped, hoping like hell John didn't actually look up. He was hidden underneath the consol of the jumper, trying to fix a short, and did he have to splay his legs open like that? It was just indecent! And -- and perverted!
And really, really pretty.
Rodney's mouth started watering.
"That is what?" John prompted. His voice was muffled and tinny through the consol, but Rodney was pretty sure he detected some... amusement.
Given they were stuck on this stupid planet at least six or seven more hours, until the Deadalus got there, or they fixed the 'jumper, Rodney wasn't sure why he would be amused.
Or spread his legs quite that much. Did the man have no shame?
Well. No. No he probably didn't.
Rodney stared.
"McKay?"
"Huh? What? Oh! Um. Yes, yes -- what was I saying?"
Laughter. Definite laughter. John's laughter was particularly destinctive in that it was ear-bleedingly horrible and Rodney was torn between being affronted that he had to hear it again and worried because he didn't know why.
Him babbling like an adolescent was probably part of it, actually.
Rodney swallowed and had just opened his mouth for the most scathing, witty retort he could think of, when John had to go and ruin it by sliding out from underneath the consol and look at him.
Look at him.
"Oh my god! You -- on purpose?"
John chuckled again, running a hand through his hair and actually spread his legs wider. "On purpose, Rodney. Although I figured it'd take showing you my ass."
Showing him his -- of all the -- Rodney took a deep, slow breath, because the heart attack needed to wait until after. "Um. Seriously?"
Settling back on his elbows, John gave him what he probably thought was a lascivious look while rolling his hips just a little, making the grey material smooth out in new and interesting places and Rodney was not drooling.
Especially because John looked ridiculous from the neck up.
"Rodney. I've been hitting on you for weeks. Now that you've figured it out," you genius you went unspoken, "are you gonna stop staring at me any time soon?"
Weeks? There'd been weeks he could tap that, and hey, he was standing there staring. Why was he doing that?
Two steps brought him between John's spread legs and Rodney was down on his knees, hands flat as they ran up the rough material of John's BDU's to come to rest over the softer heat in the middle. "Seriously?" he asked again.
John just rocked his hips up, eyes half-closing. "Uh huh. Okay. Maybe you can look for a while."
"You like that? I mean, that works for you?" Looking anxiously up at John's face, Rodney saw nothing but heat and want and jesus, John wanted him. For real.
"How long until the Deadalus gets here?"
"Long enough. Okay?"
So, so very okay.

Thank you so much! This is MADE OF AWESOME. John, trying to be subtle and being completely obscure instead, and Rodney embodying my friend's principle of, "Guys think everyone is hitting on them, except the people who are."
Also, the words, "spread his legs" are really hot and you are totally awesome.

Um? *waves limp hand* Because he's so fucking hawt? Just a guess here. Not like I've, you know... noticed or anything. *rolls eyes*

Oh hell yeah. Rodney staring like that is like the best porn ever playing out right in front of you in surround-sound smell-o-vision.
Touching from him is probably akin to supernovas exploding under one's skin.
Then again, I can only hypothesise here.
